I totally agree that compensation is due; I haven’t said otherwise. But a number of people have talked about being stranded with nothing to do in the absence of IFE. I’m just saying that it seems to me it is basic travel preparation to have backup.
but the ife should also be working. |
IFE not working on GIG-ATL. I sent a comment saying the services was excellent mentioned the issue and got 6.5k miles.

Last flight on D1 we took from FCO to ATL had the IFE broken. It kept turning on then off..over and over again. Quite annoying. Without asking they gave my husband 15k SMs while in the air. It helped take the annoyance away a bit.

Great, so what I learned from this thread is 5500-6500 is the normal compensation when you file a complaint and don't ask for anything. 15K is the in-air F compensation. I suppose going forward one could ask for 9K when filing a complaint (in Y) and seeing what transpires.

Echoing the 15k in-air compensation. Was in Delta ONE JFK to LAX two days ago. My IFE had no volume. Honestly, I didn't really care. I wanted to watch Parasite anyway and it had subtitles so it didn't matter much. I didn't ask for anything. They gave me 15k - probably because they were happy that I wasn't making a fuss more than anything else.

I got 6500 for my complaint about a broken IFE in C+ from DCA-MSP but most of the complaint was actually about the FA’s response (“What do you want me to do? We’re not mechanics” and where the only offer on board “well, there are plenty of seats in the back so you can just move”)

Compensation expectation?
Flying today EVV-ATL-JAN, flight out of EVV delayed 5hrs due to crew issue (overheard gate agent saying that the FA called in sick), rebooked on the app, now getting into JAN 4hrs later than orginally ticketed.
I am a nobody to Delta, so what can I reasonably expect as far as compensation goes? Is it worth the time to write the email. I'm a sucker for free miles. I do need to contact them regardless for a seat refund as I had upgraded my ATL-JAN flight as the offer was crazy good. New flight was sold out in F and I didn't want to delay my trip any longer so I took a Y seat. Worth mentioning the delay? Thanks in advance. |

Route: PDX - LAX & LAX-PDX
Fare:T & U Status: Diamond What Happened: PDX - LAX IFE only had movie channels. No live TV & no map channel. No WiFi. Arrived 26 minutes late due to broken de-ice truck in PDX. This was the first flight of the day and the aircraft sat in PDX for at least 8 hours overnight. LAX - PDX same day. IFE only had movie channels. No live TV & no map channel. Both aircraft were A319. Not sure if the same tail #. Compensation: 9,000 miles |
Flight canceled - appropriate compensation?
Longtime Delta flyer with few issues other than some lost luggage a year or so ago. Had a flight this AM (main cabin) from SLC to JFK at 8:25 AM - it was delayed to 4 PM, then 11:30 PM, and finally canceled. I'm going to miss a day of work with the rebooking. What is the appropriate amount of SkyMiles to ask for as compensation for a scenario like this? Would rather have miles than cash. Thanks in advance for guidance.

Compensation usually depends on status. Email DL but don't ask for compensation... if you don't like what they offer write back and say you don't find it to be appropriate.
|
Agreed I would not mention compensation in the complaint form. I would simply mention it severely inconvenienced you, and due to the rolling delays and eventual rebooking it caused you to miss a work engagement. My guess is they will send a canned reply with 5000-10000 miles.

Why was the flight delayed? That tends to play a lot into this and, of course into whether DL picks up your hotel & meals.
