DL IT issues

I had a similar experience this morning. Seat maps screwed up and the mobile app saying I have no seat assignment. Called Diamond Desk, all is fine and she told me they make schedule changes on Saturdays so that must be the reason. Said not to worry, all is fine and to check back later.

Sorry, did not mean to ignore. CDG is a no go, the only connection was SAN-SLC-CDG-MUC, and one leg is full. Nothing else out of SLC that would work for us. JFK is not an option either. SAN-MSP-DTW-AMS-MUC is not something I am willing to do, especially using KLM on TATL.

Huh? All the DTW-AMS flights are operated by DL, not KL.

My bad. Does not make it any better/easier anyway.

Why is JFK not an option?

Have they tried any of these on 3/16, all of which show wide open availability?

SAN-JFK-AMS-MUC on DL2059-DL70-KL1791
SAN-JFK-CDG-MUC on DL2059-AF7-AF1722
SAN-MSP-AMS-MUC on DL1864-DL258-KL1791
SAN-MSP-CDG-MUC on DL1864-DL220-AF1722

1 and 3 are the options which I came up with too. No EC seats though, and I am traveling with the family this time.

2 and 4 no way, I will not set my foot at CDG, I can't stand that airport and will not connect there even when I am flying alone.

add the late CVG-BOS flight on march 15 to the list -- it just showed up canceled on an expertflyer flight search, and it wasn't canceled on that same view as recently as a couple of hours ago. (and the last two LAX-MSP flights on friday...)

(i'm not on it, but it's a flight that comes up when i'm looking at the flights i am on that day on EF.... should be a fun day to fly whatever it is -- even if they reinstate all of those flights right now, seat assignments will have to be a disaster...)

I would check back in the morning until after the schedule changes have been completed to see if anything has changed.

Are we talking about the same dates? DL70 JFK-AMS on 3/16 has 7 open EC seats, and SAN-JFK has 10.

If you're talking about the 15th, MSP-AMS has 5 open EC seats.

Sorry, the 17th.

There are appear to be slugs of flights that have been CXLD over the weekend of March 23rd. For example, the ATL-BZN roundtrip that has been loaded for months and months is now CXLD. On the same day, the evening MSP-LGA that we've been booked on for months is now no longer. I'm used to the typical crazy DL schedule changes months out but not massive changes ~2 weeks out. (This I expect from AA when the pilots are acting up but that isnt the case here!)

nystateofmind Mar 9, 2013 3:24 pm

It is not the most ideal times or aircraft configuration but on the 17th it appears there is EC on the following option:

9125/178/9564 SAN-PDX-AMS-MUC (unfortunately it means like 5 hours in PDX after your Alaska Airlines flight and 55 minutes in AMS)

This schedule mess seems worse than usual. I just checked seats and I have a segment where DL shows every BE seat as occupied, but EF shows the same seat map as yesterday, with approximately 12 empty BE seats and 4 upgrades available for SWUs or miles. If BE is full, DL would not be willing to do four more upgrades, although eight were available yesterday afternoon and I seem to be the only one who was upgraded. My ticket was reissued, so I assume I'm OK.

Here's a new tiny tidbit I just researched / discovered . . .

One of the 2 canx SAN/ATL flights is DL 1662 flown on a B763. Using flightaware, that plane comes in the evening before as DL355 from ATL. That flight is NOT canceled.

I'd say - as has been mentioned many times above - just sit on it til tomorrow and see what shakes loose. I think it'll all come out in the wash.

The same applies to Thursday and Fridays flights. DM desk says it will get fixed. The flights are going. My res online says 'select seats' but there's no seat map available but DM desk still sees the flight and my seats. We'll see if they stick when they are done with the schedule maintenance.

MSPeconomist Mar 9, 2013 3:58 pm

DL gave me a schedule change to a flight that doesn't exist. In fact, delta.dumb invites me to pick a seat, but then says the seating map isn't available. This is in the future, so I'll wait a few days before calling about it.....or perhaps just let it be and see what else gets changed.
