DET - RIC
Monday (3/25) I was on DET-RIC 6:30am flight. I guess the little CRJ and snow do not mix, because they told us they needed twelve (12!) volunteers to stay off the plane due to weight issues combined with the weather.
After all was said and done they took 10 people off, gave us all $400 credit, and I was home about 8 hours late. I also got delayed by 4 hours about 2 months ago and a $50 credit showed up in my account...no request by me, just showed up. I didn't complain.. |
I assume you meant DTW? DET hasn't had commercial air service since the early 90s.
It is good to know they gave you compensation for weight issues on a CR2, though. I don't think they're required to pay VDB for weight issues on a 50-seater. |
I helped my sister file a complaint about a delay causing a 2.5 hour late arrival ... request for compensation DENIED. She has no Medallion Status.

bajrbajr reply to the email saying i am expecting some sort of compensation then you should get some:cool:

Mechanical delay of 30 minutes at JFK led to misconnect of MSP-TUS flight. Booked A fare, and protected again in A, but on an MSP-ATL TUS routing getting me in 8.5 hours later than planned. Is this something to complain about? It is a total waste of the day to sit in the airport and on a $2,000 ticket would expect more than a $16 meal voucher.

4/11 IAH-ATL-NRT-TPE; right after checked-in at counter, (for some known reason) checked with kiosk again and found out ATL-NRT will be delayed by 5 hours and will miss connection in NRT.
Go back right back to counter and check-in agent was shocked as they were making mistake before, but nothing is their fault. Immediately rebooked to IAH-MSP-NRT-TPE, lost IAH-MSP first class upgrade but gain MSP-NRT-TPE business elite upgrade. Really nice job. |

I had a delay on a ATL-JFK-FRA flight on the first leg, that caused me to get off the plane, and rebook ATL-AMS-FRA later that same night. Got to AMS, and all flights to FRA were cancelled (KLM flight). Left the airport in AMS and got a car, and drove to my destination in Germany. Found out in AMS that my bag was in JFK without me (good job Delta!!) Tracked the bag every day, just to find out the bag made it to FRA, had less than 48 hours until I told them I would check out of my hotel, so they sent it back to ATL. Bag arrived back 2 days before I did!
For all of that I got a lousy 15,000 miles. Ridiculous. I also got $26 back from the AMS-FRA flight I never took. |
Late January I was supposed to fly PBI-ATL-SLC-RDM. PBI-ATL suffered rolling delays and was eventually canceled due to a bad battery on the plane. Ended up getting sent to FLL to fly FLL-DTW-SLC-RDM. DTW-SLC ended up delayed (Was never clear whether due to weather or crew availability) so I missed the last SLC-RDM flight. Rebooked for first flight the following morning.
Was given $12.00 in food vouchers in DTW, a taxi and hotel voucher in SLC, $50.00 eCert when I complained on the phone while sorting out switching flights, and 20,000 miles when I sent complaint via dl.com. Was also confirmed into F for FLL-DTW-SLC. All in all not too bad, but I was still rather frustrated that the plane had sat all night at the gate at PBI and nobody bothered to check and see if the plane was operable until ~ 30 minutes before scheduled departure. |
4 hour delay (all of it on the tarmac) ATL-LIM on Sunday, arriving after 2AM. Combination of ATC delays and refueling.
20,000 miles. Ticket was in paid BE. This was unsolicited, although I did get a "Delta survey" in my email earlier today and filled it out with my displeasure at sitting on the plane for 4 extra hours. |
7,500 miles for sending complaint about IFE freezing every 3 minutes on LAX-ATL. Did not ask for compensation.

MSP-CVG overbooked by 3 yesterday, ended up giving me and I think one other 400$, hotel and 18$ in meal vouchers. I live in MSP anyway so I just went home

equipment change
Trans con equ. change on paid BE/FC , LAX-JFK, where they also forgot to upload the catering in full, pillows for half cabin, and non functioning IFE...
comp: DL claims- 6,000 miles and $100 voucher. Me- Well, I got only the 6,000 miles and I am still waiting for the $100 voucher to show up, but what I really wanted is to write to them to take the miles and redeem them on the award calendar themselves  PS- did I mention that DL knew of the problem 9 hours in advance (affected incoming flight as well) and did not think it would be nice to contact the clients and let them know until... boarding time? PS2- did I mention that I sat near a pax that bought a last minute ('walk up') FC ticket LAX-JFK less than 2 hours before departure, and that pax was also not told that there is an equipment change to the flight? |
Delayed flight out of LAX caused us to touch down at DTW with 15-20 minutes til connecting flight took off. High-tailed it from A terminal to B terminal, and got to gate only to find a dark, GA-less gate with door closed. Last flight of the night to my destination, and with 10 minutes til take-off, with GA knowing full well I was connecting and it was the last flight, they decided to call it an early night and close up shop. Called my colleague from behind closed door, who was still getting settled into his seat on the plane. I was auto-booked to first flight out in the morning.
Managed to book another delayed flight to a nearby city, but would require a $300 cab fare to make it back to my original destination. Pulled the trigger, because I had early meetings I could not miss in the am. Told Complaints my story. Will be receiving $250 to cover the cab fare and 7,500 pesos. |
