It's the same thing as EU261 - If you write in a complaint about a flight that suffers from a delay and you're entitled to cash and you don't reference EU261, you will at most get a DL certificate below the value of what one is entitled to. However, if you write in as an educated traveler who knows their rights and references in their initial complaint the EU261 rule you'll get exactly what you're entitled to. That's how DL plays, and that's how the consumer have to play back. It's not a threat, it's the law. |

$300 TCV and 7,500 miles for nothing.
Truly - I have no idea why I've received these. |
Canceled United Flight ITH - EWR - ORD
Ooops

Sorry folks. I see this is NOT the United forum. Ooops. I'll move my post to that forum.

20K (each) for wife and I stranded in ATL overnight due to 1.5 hour delay on first leg. Actually my complaint was that the ATL GA told my wife she could board, but refused to wait 45 seconds for me (she jogged while I lugged the roll-aboards). Seriously? I wait a total of days for you over the course of a year and you can't wait a minute for me? D-bag. Not that I am bitter.

TALC delayed and missed connection in AMS, due?
Had a DL ATL-AMS turn back to ATL for mechanical and thus missed my connection by 3 hours in AMS. Ended up in AMS for 10 hours delay and missing my meeting at my final destination.
AMS was a mess due to fog issue, no Priority CS line as lines were so long, no DL agent to assist so just did the Yotel and lounge and paid Yotel myself. Had to fly KQ instead of KL so not credited full mileage, only 50% DL on KQ. Noticed got $100 EV in my account but no mileage. What am I due officially? Am a DL Diamond. |
2013 Compensation Thread

Lay Flat Seats - Not Quite
My niece just came back from a business trip to Asia. On her flight out (Seattle - Shanghai) her BC seat was broken. Even at take-off there was a slight recline. When she tried to lay it back her seat was stuck with her back nearly straight and her legs up approximately head high. Yes, she was sitting in a V. They reset the seat twice to no avail. Another seat on the same flight had a similar issue. She was pretty miserable for ten of the twelve hours; especially since she had to work soon after her arrival and needed to get some sleep. The crew did everything they could to help, but no luck. This is on top of a medical issue which closed the FC bathrooms for several hours. She was given a $150 voucher for her discomfort. I think that is too low; perhaps because she is a young woman?? I told her to write into Customer Care; any opinions on what would be fair?

You can get an extra 15k miles for sure and maybe even a partial refund on the fare

3 1/2-hour weather-related delay from LAS-LAX (and then landed right into the middle of LAX's terminal lockdown last Friday).
Even though it was weather-related, received 2,500 unsolicited miles into my account. Welcome gesture, but certainly not expected or necessary. |
15K for IFE fail on a TCON. I never watch it anyway, but the FA offered (I think the guy in front of me asked).

Got my first bit of comp since 2009. Got upgraded to F on the SLC-JFK redeye Tuesday night but the crew was just out of it, poor service in multiple aspects. Sent in an email halfway through the flight (note that my power outlet wasn't working, either). Five hours later got an apology and 7,500 miles.
In the meantime, I'm hoping my flight back on Monday is oversold. A voucher would be very nice :D -J. |

Curious simply because most redeyes are an abbreviated service and you get next to nothing. Only time I saw a true service was when I flew SFO-JFK redeye, but that's considered a BE flight, not standard F. |

Can you share some details as to what you mean when you say they were out of it?

I understand it's an abbreviated service, but I was primarily unhappy about the lack of water and the power outlet not working, which really put me in bind once we got to JFK. -J. |
