I had that problem last year with an award ticket. The agent refused to waive it despite numerous attempts (more than twice) to book the ticket online. I had to have it refunded after the fact. That does not make me a Kettle, it makes your website faulty.

That's what on-line support is for...
If there is a true breakdown with the website, we get the official OK to waive the DTC, otherwise 99% of the time it will apply.
I HAVE been known to waive the DTC and I ALWAYS waive it in cases where it's TRULY impossible to book it on line (IE UMNR's, or even non-umners if there's an adult traveling on a different PNR) but that's part of NEEDING to call in.

Happened to me just this week. It wasn't an award ticket, it was an eCredit.

As for me, you are definitely a kettle with Medallion status if the flight bag you use with the tag is the bag you take with you to work every day. I just got so sick of removing and putting on the tag, so I left the tag on. I generally fly every other week, so that is why it was a hassle. Nobody at work has said anything to me about that tag, even though I do not think anybody has even noticed it.

...if you're a SM (as proudly advertised on both of your carry-ons) waiting 15 mins. before boarding begins at the front of the SP line when you haven't been upgraded and aren't SP .
