Not to my knowledge. You will need a Financial Consultant to open the account.

Just noticed that Singapore Airlines isn't a transfer partner anymore. At lease I'm not seeing it on my end. I was looking for ways to cash out my ~80K points with the Elite card and stumbled across that.

Just before the pandemic, in February 2020, there were senen transfer partners, but now there are only four. I have modified the Wikipost.

Any news on the fate of the rewards program after the sale? I've been saving them for future travel, but am now wondering if I should redeem the rewards program points for cash, so as to salvage a terrible return (or none) after the sale is final. My account is on the east coast, so I'm interested in Citizens Bank's plans for the rewards program.

I may have overlooked, but I do not see any mention of credit cards. Selling branches and deposit accounts wouldn't necessarily include credit card accounts, but if they do sell them I would expect Citizens would issue an entirely different card of their own.

What kind of card do you have?

It seems HSBC is also selling credit card as well. The original announcement did not mention credit cards, but the amount of the loan sold have been included.

I received an email today that said my credit card account is part of the transition (to another financial institution). No name of the financial institution was mentioned in the email, and I had to find it from news articles that it will be Citizens Bank.

If you are a Premier customer meeting balance requirement, my guess is you should be safe (Premier card is part of the Premier "package"). But don't quote me on this as there is no official news.

Why not transfer to one of the 4 remaining transfer partners (Aer Lingus, BA, IB, Emirates)?

Just for kicks I reached out to my relationship manager and chat support. They both noted that Premier accounts aren’t impacted. I noted the press release saying the 75k requirement and that I don’t have that. They both said all Premier accounts will stay with HSBC.

I assume front line agents may not be fully trained yet on what is what.

Yeah that's understandable that they don't. I don't believe full list of branches to be closed will be released either.

Once transferred, you are stuck (Many wait until the transfer is actually needed).

While this could be true, given what mentioned in the official announcement, I would be cautious about this. I also heard from a PRM today that at this point, all accounts have been locked to their destinations.

But whatever - just upgraded my account to HSBC Premier. Hope no switching.

That's quite easily imaginable - branch locations with the highest number of kept customer, i.e. Jade, PB, and Premier. So I know that at least 1 branch will be kept near my home (my home has 3 nearby).

I wonder how they will tag the accounts for sale. I remember a while back HSBC sold their upstate NY branches. If you opened an account at those branches they were sold. I opened my Premier account online but live in California so I’m not tied to a specific branch in that regard.

My exact concern as well, given that our routing number is 022000020, i.e. East Coast routing.
