We opened our account online and were assigned a Premier Relationship Manager at the Premier Remote Center near Buffalo, NY. HSBC's USA branch network is very spare, and they are setup to work with clients who never visit a branch. However, if you opened your account at a branch I believe your officer would be at the branch. There is an HSBC branch within walking distance of ms mia's office, and we would have opened the account there if we had understood how their system worked, although we require very little service.

Their "main branch" has a single teller and what seems like 2 bankers. They also close at 4pm... And don't open weekends. I didn't get the feeling of Premier anything. Very different to the service received in other countries. Hopefully once they lick their wounds from all the fines, they can put a bit more effort in. If they didn't have global view I would be considering First Republic or Chase CPC. Unfortunately Citi has been nerfing Citigold and now you need 500k+ for decent perks. |

It's unfortunate that HSBC invests so little in their branches, at least here in the Bay Area.

Welcome to FlyerTalk. $0.016 per point would be a decent return if the card also provided opportunities to earn more than one point per dollar, but it seldom does. There are other cards which return 2% (or more) when redeemed for travel, or simply as cash. See these threads:

Can people in the US get this card?

Just received my renewed HSBC Premier World card. My previous one was from 2011 or so. The new one is very plasticky-shiny. Old one had a nicer semi-metallic sheen. Just looks cheaper now. :(

At least you guys are getting the offers. I never get any offers via email
$2000=6000 pts*1.6c=$96, effectively a 5% back. not the worst thing in the world. i really only use this card when there is a bonus out there. or internationally, when chase might have a issue (eg: was recently buying tix with a LCC in SE Asia, Chase refused to go through. hsbc worked). ialto ps: found an option to allow special offer emails under cust service->change contact info |

for eg, despite them advertising next day replacement, i have not got the card for 3-4 days the 2 times i needed a new card. separately, HSBC should really move the card from a Mastercard World to Elite to improve some of the ancillary benefits. |
Got this email:
>>> Use your HSBC Premier World MasterCard® credit card to spend $500 each month from November 1, 2014 through February 28, 2015 and get a $25 Statement Credit1 each month - up to a total of $100. Now, more than ever, your card is the perfect choice for holiday shopping, booking travel plans for the new year, making purchases for your home and more. There's no need to enroll. Your purchases will automatically qualify toward your monthly Statement Credit. Plus, you'll earn one Rewards Program Point for every dollar you spend to help you earn first-rate dining, cash back and travel opportunities. <<< Looks like this could be in addition to the triple pt offer? ialto |
This isn't specifically related to the MC, but does anyone here know if one opens premier accounts in two different countries independently (without using the relationship manager), and then links them during global view, how is the minimum requirement managed?
In my situation, I walked into HSBC Canada a few weeks ago to open a premier account, filled the paperwork, was told by the CSR that it will take 48 hours etc. I did not get a hold of her again for days, and then decided to just open a premier account in US online (since I am a Canadian working in the US), which was opened in 24 hours. Today, I hear from the HSBC Canada lady that the premier account in Canada is also ready. I did disclose to the representative in HSBC USA that an application in Canada was filed and was pending when he opened my account over the phone and he said it shouldn't be an issue. Now that both accounts will be opened, do I get to choose where I meet the premier requirements? I do need both accounts, so I do not really want to close one or the other, but do want to keep my funds in one place. |

So I guess you need to ask one of the two to attach the details of the other account. The US requirements are usually the easiest (100k) vs other countries (Australia is for e.g. 250k, but HSBC is actually a respected institution in that country :). |
Just received the following: "Collect 25% additional Avios with the British Airways Executive Club when you redeem your existing HSBC Premier Credit Card Points for Avios. Available between 1 October and 31 December 2014."
