Does anyone know when HSBC USA will support Apple Pay with the HSBC Premier World MasterCard issued by HSBC USA. It seems HSBC is the largest bank in the USA that currently doesn't offer Apple Pay to its credit cards.

Finally received a reissued card today due to HSBC becoming aware of security breaches at 'several merchants' that I might be impacted by.

It seems their claimed "we're reissuing all Premier cards by November 2014" was not accurate.

No, you need to spend $4,000 to earn the maximum $4,000 bonus points. They are offering you one bonus point per dollar: 2X Rewards Program Points consists of one base Rewards Program Point and one Bonus Rewards Program Point

Very interesting that they are truly targeting this offer and it's different for you. Surprised they go through the trouble for it.

As for spend, I'm a bit confused. My offer states: "The maximum number of Rewards Program Bonus Points that can be earned during the Promotional Period is 4,000." So if I spend $2,000 that would earn me 4,000 points correct? And that's the max. If I spent $4,000 - wouldn't I earn 8,000 points (assuming they allowed it)?

Your offer is one base point, plus one bonus point, for a total of two points per dollar. The cap is 4,000 bonus points, not 4,000 total points.

2X Rewards Program Points consists of one base Rewards Program Point and one Bonus Rewards Program Point. The maximum number of Rewards Program Bonus Points that can be earned during the Promotional Period is 4,000
  • Spend $1,000 receive 1,000 + 1,000 = 2,000 points
  • Spend $2,000 receive 2,000 + 2,000 = 4,000 points
  • Spend $4,000 receive 4,000 + 4,000 = 8,000 points
  • Spend $8,000 receive 8,000 + 4,000 = 12,000 points because bonus capped at 4,000

aha! Very helpful little chart you created. Now I understand completely.

I haven't received any offer yet for next quarter. Is it because I haven't used it much for the past few months?

I got my non-Premier card (the Platinum with rewards). Chip and signature, but worth it for the contactless with offline transaction support (transit) and no FTF.

I'm not sure if Premier is any different, but in addition to the crummy rewards, has anyone noticed this has to be the worst prime credit card ever in terms of protections and (non-FTF) fees? No purchase protection at all, HIGH cash advance fees, over-limit fee, insane APR (I know that doesn't apply to Premier), no other card benefits at all.

I can't quite figure out what makes this a "Platinum" level Mastercard vs just a plain Mastercard. There are zero perks. I've never heard of a credit card aimed at prime customers without any perks at all and only 1% rewards. Still worth it for the contactless, though.

Doesn't serve a whole lot of purpose really, when they offer a contactless card. Once you get past the novelty, a contactless card is a lot easier than a phone...

I don't think that HSBC in the USA real cares about customers that are not on the Premier platform. HSBC USA has sold off many branches and has shrunk their base in the USA. I believe that to be the reason for offering credit cards outside of the Premier Mastercard that offer very little.

I know that my HSBC Premier Mastercard has contactless payment. I know that it works at NFC payment terminals like Apple Pay. I don't carry all my credit cards in my wallet. And prefer to have the ability to add my HSBC Premier card into Apple Pay. I use Apple Pay thru Open Table as well. Which the regular card cannot do. I like the fact that Apple Pay generates a separate 4 digit ending code which using the regular card uses its real 4 digit ending code. When the Apple Watch comes out, I plan on using it for Apple Pay. I just can't believe HSBC being one of the largest banks in the USA that still does not offer Apple Pay.

...

The permier HSBC is my main card while traveling internationally. I have yet met a country or POS machine where this card is not accepted. And it typically gives best FX rate among my foreign txn fee free cards. And their customer service has been outstanding.

But I totally agree that the rewards and protection only scale from norm to lacking.

I just found this nice offer for 1.25% APY for 6 months for Premier customers - http://www.us.hsbc.com/1/2/home/premier#OfferInfo Promo is half over now - so sadly not worth it to me. I wish my Premier Relationship Manager told me about the promo when it came out. But he's the worst relationship manager I've ever encountered at any company - and that's saying a lot! Or perhaps HSBC could email us about these lovely promos? Ha! What is wrong with this company?

The quality of HSBC premier managers do vary from 10 (where 10 is the best) to 1.

My premier relationship mgr was transferred from banking to the brokerage one. The old banking premier manager was a perfect 10 in all banking/finance issues. However, for the few years since transferred, not once did the premier/brokerage manager contacted me. And when I called once every few years requesting information or action, it takes days to schedule and she would forget to do it (be it trade or banking matters). And she knows little about HSBC products across platforms (including credit card). The new premier/brokerage manager comes across as not wanting to deal with customers, but she was forced to do it by the company.

When I visited HSBC overseas, it's the same thing. I've encountered HSBC premier staffs who are 10, and some -1.

I find for HSBC products, internet is the best source. Whenever I found something of value, I call their 800 premier line to get things done.

I'm usually pretty good about this but perhaps I missed this email. Can't be 100% positive. I asked my relationship manager if he could let me know when promos like this come around and he told me HSBC emailed me. Yes, I know that RM, but I'm wondering if you could add some value and make sure I didn't miss it! My guy is surely a -1.

Agreed. I should just ask for a new relationship manager. I try to go online or 800# when I can. But sometimes I need to go through this dud and there are limited options. Of all the companies I deal with he's the worst relationship manager I've ever seen. It's amazing he's able to keep up the bad work... you'd think at least once he'd slip up and actually do something right
