The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.
The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

I read through the card benefits for the downgraded card and it gives you a few valuable perks considering it's a no AF card; Primary Rental Car Insurance, Extended Warranty & Price Protection
I completely agree that they nuked the card values here, BUT i don't know of any other personal, no-AF card that provides Primary Rental Car Insurance

Re-read the benefits and looks like it only provides supplemental insurance, not primary. So definitely not as exciting

Drats! I guess this means that I need to keep the Crystal for another year, as we were looking to book a high-end safari using a good chunk of our points, which we would’ve needed the concierge for. I hate to pay $400 for a card that I only charged about $10,000 to this year, but it is what it is. We don’t dare book anything for next summer until we are vaccinated for COVID.

American isn’t going anywhere. They could possibly do a chapter 13 at some point to restructure debt but the airline will not cease to exist.

so this is funny: i closed my CNB credit and bank accounts, but they still include me in some marketing focus groups, which give me random itunes, googleplay, or amazon credits each month. i wonder how long this will continue, so far I've gotten surprising value out of that!

Called today to downgrade to the Signature with $0 AF (no downside and better for credit score to keep large line open). CSR sent request to my personal banker and advised they will send a form. So those going this route may not want to wait to last minute.
Now moving on to other card cancellations as no reason to pay AFs when there are no travel benefits...
Addendum: Downgrade successful. No real benefits on $0 AF card and 3% forex fee.

Got 90,000 points. Is Amazon still the best way to redeem? I see $100 GC for 11,000 points...so I order 8 at once (or do I do it one by one)? Hope there is no limit on the number of GCs!
