Same result with me--just applied today--screen result said need to wait 7-10 days. I called the reconsideration line, spoke with a human being, and was told it will most likely take 3-5 days for a decision.
Any idea if it's safe in the mean time to apply for other cards today (at least one other)? I had been hoping to do a mini AOR today, with the next card being a Barclays one, but if US Bank is going to do a delayed credit pull or an additional credit pull then perhaps I shouldn't risk it and just wait it out.

Yes - does anyone have experience of opening the personal card in 2012, cancelling it and getting approved for this personal card? If so, when did you cancel the first card?

I guarantee this promotion will not yield more points than the standard 20k. Here's why:
In 2010 Winter Olympics the USA won 37 medals (9 gold, 15 silver, 13 bronze) and this was when the Olympics was in our backyard (Vancouver). This only equates to 9,550 points.
Even if this year's teams DOUBLES the total medal count, US Bank would only give you 20k, the standard sign up bonus.
The reason the last summer's promotion was such a hit was because the USA OWNED the London summer Olympics: 104 medals and 46 of them were gold.
Unless you wanted this card anyway, I would not expect anything but the standard 20k points.

I agree that it won't be as lucrative as the summer olympics since there are less events and less medals to go around, but the 20k points are the minimum.... all medals earned give a bonus. So using your example of Vancouver you'd get 20,000 sign up + 3,500 spend + 9,550 for medals = ~33k points ($600 worth of an airline ticket + 3k miles left for the next redemption)
