Also, I should note I have the CSR, Amex Platinum, and Marriott Premier as my current credit cards.

Thanks to both of you for the quick reply. The merchant is Blue Nile. I had read that about going above $7,500 and not getting the credit so I already confirmed with Blue Nile that they could charge me $7,500 exactly to avoid taking a chance on missing out on the 37.5k miles.
Also, I should note I have the CSR, Amex Platinum, and Marriott Premier as my current credit cards.

1. sign-on bonus, 50k points or $250
2. on-going rewards, 2 x points
3. spending bonus for extra points/$ or status, like spending $10,000 to get extra 20k points
It all depends on what you plan to do. Always do some research and compare. Some folks even use Excel spreadsheet to calculate it.

There are three things to consider with credit rewards.
1. sign-on bonus, 50k points or $250
2. on-going rewards, 2 x points
3. spending bonus for extra points/$ or status, like spending $10,000 to get extra 20k points

For those with more extensive cc portfolio and have already exhausted most signup bonuses, then options 2 and 3 need to be considered as well.

For those who have a limited cc portfolio, option 1 for signup bonus will almost always win in terms of most value. For $7500, you could call bluenile and ask if they can split it over two cards, which should be enough for two bonuses.

But high spending is on-going. Some folks can MS like $20k each month. It is like their part-time job, more than a hobby.

The churner is about the way of the past. Chase 5/24 and AmEx "lifetime" effectively shut the doors. Cap 1, WF and Barclay get relatively tight underwriting standard, or highly unpredictable. Some people can still get 3-4 new cards a year and continue to work on a SUB every 3 months.
But high spending is on-going. Some folks can MS like $20k each month. It is like their part-time job, more than a hobby.

The few guys on here that are MSing 20k per month are usually those who have exhausted almost every bonus available to them, so the high spend is the only way to keep piling on those points since you no longer are aiming to hit min spends. Same reason I am also starting to ramp up my MS.
When combined with big upcoming purchases and MS, there is significant ROI to be had from going after bonuses for those still just starting out.

MS Cards & Idea Recommendations
What cards and or ideas do you recommend for somebody like me that spends $7k - $13k a month (business purchases).
I have citi double but I'm looking for recommendations on something that can give me more value maybe in travel and hotels.
I'm not updated with the MS world because I stop for a while and I was always a very light MS player.
So I'm trying to check out the opinion of you guys and also get to know several of you. Thank you!

Since this is not related to manufactured spending, I have moved the thread to Credit Card Programs. The moderators there might consolidate it with another thread on the subject.
At that level of spending, you can easily get the signup bonus for any card you want, so it's simply a matter of choosing what airline or hotel you would like points with, and applying for their card, preferably when they have a good signup bonus.

Or you can use them to buy airfare & hotel stays on their website. ^ Big bonus.

New card advice for a big purchase
Hi all,
At the moment I have the Sapphire Preferred, United Mileage Plus and a very old AAdvantage Gold World MasterCard. I've got a $6,000 expense coming up later this year and I'd like to ask your opinion of what the best card options might be for me. I was thinking of the Chase Ink card with the 80,000 mile signup bonus ($5k/3mo spend) since I'm already collecting UR miles with the Sapphire Preferred. The other option would be something from Citi for AA miles, since I currently have 175k in their plan. I'm down to only 44k United miles after my last two trips, and 78k Chase UR points that I can transfer to United if/when needed.
I live in northeastern New Jersey, and flying out of either Newark or Kennedy isn't a problem (I don't travel domestically so never need to use LGA) and my preferred destinations are the major cities in western Europe.
Since I currently have an open AA World M/C, am I prevented from getting an opening bonus on any other AA-branded card or is that only Citi products? Might I be better off looking at two 50,000 mile bonuses on $3k/3mo minimum spend promos instead?

Easy pickings to add to your AA mileage would be the Barclays business AA card. Only need to make one purchase to get 50K, and won't add to your 5/24 count.

Thanks for the advice and the confirmation on the Ink Preferred. I run a small sole-proprietorship business that has a fair number of printing, advertising, shipping and mobile phone bills, so the extra miles earned in those categories could be significant. UR miles earned will almost certainly be redeemed on United since I don't fly to Asia and love Europe. I've got a trip to CPH next year that would be SO nice in Business going eastbound (we're coming back via HEL on Finnair day flight using AA miles).
I was toying with the idea of a Barclay's Aviator. I'm not in any 5/24 danger at the moment; the last card I opened was the Sapphire Preferred about a year ago. I'm trying to keep my $95 annual fees as low as needed, though. What are Citi and Barclay's policies about churn? Could I dump my almost-never-used AAdvantage World M/C and still qualify for a new (different) product that gives me AA miles plus a welcome bonus?

Read the Wikipost at the top of this thread to understand Citi's policy, which is based on how recently you opened or closed a Citi AAdvantage card -not- on whether you have such a card open now. DO NOT CLOSE the card that you have now until you understand the ramifications.
