Let's crowd source things that have counted towards travel redemptions that are not so obvious
Successful
Successful - Plus Only
Unsuccessful (please mention the amount redeemed - important as anything under $25 cannot be reimbursed)
Don't forget travel purchase needs to be > $25 charge for 2,500 mile redemption
Partial redemptions are possible - however you cannot redeem against that charge again. So if you have a $500 charge and you spend 40K points against it, you cannot redeem 10K points for the remaining $100 of that charge.

Question about redeeming points for travel expenses...
If I use this card for non-room charges during an upcoming hotel stay, will these charges be coded as hotel charges? Specifically, I've prepaid for my room at a Fairmont, but expect to incur dining, spa, resort, etc. charges. My last similar stay had a single line charge on my cc bill for everything done at the hotel. But do credit card companies receive a breakdown of separate codes within a charge? Will Barclay know what was lodging, and what was dining/spa?
If I'm going to put my these hotel charges on the Arrival card, I'd like to know ahead of time whether or not I would be able to be reimbursed for them.
Thanks,
NHAnimator

However, there are never any guarantees with Merchant Category Codes, YMMV. T&C of every MCC based rewards program specifically state that the issuer is not responsible for incorrectly coded transactions.

Anyone have an idea as to how long this new offer lasts? I was denied last week for two many apps recently. Hoping its around in 3 months and I'll prioritize it in next AoR.

I applied for Barclay arrival on May 2, got a pending 10 day message. A few days later, I got a denied letter stating "sufficient credit is available on your account issued by Barclays Bank Delaware."
At least Barclays didn't pull my credit report - I checked Credit Karma, and Barclay indicated that "a credit bureau report was not used in making this determination"
I guess that has to do with my NFL card app back in early Feb (spend $2500, get $400 back). Barclays prob don't want people having both cards. Has anyone been able to get both NFL and Arrival card?

My TU report which they pulled contained only one inquiry (from Barclays) this one made #2 in last two years. The first one was for USAirways card in February. In last six months I had opened eight new personal accounts which they would have seen.

Applied for NFL and Arrival card same day (5/8). Already had one Barclay's card (U.S. Airways Dividend MC approved ten months ago).
NFL was instant approved. Arrival was "pending." Haven't called recon yet. Checked Barclay's status page today (5/16) and still "pending" eight days later.
I'll be sure to update with results.

One key data point you left out: How many credit card applications have you made (to all issuers) over the past 12 months?
That seems to be one of the key items that Barclay is scrutinizing.

In my case, I had 11 card applications in the last 12 months in addition to a few hard pulls from an auto loan when I applied for the arrival card a few weeks ago. The agent I talked to made a mention of the large amounts of inquiries. However, I have had the Barclay sallie mae card and put around $1000 in purchases each month for over a year now. He specifically said that they appreciate the frequent usage and this might be why I was approved.

Declined. Have 7 new individual accounts and 5 new authorized user accounts in 2013 on TU report. Only two inquiries in last 6 months on TU. Both calls to recon gave same reason, too many new accounts. No interest on their part in closing an existing Barclay card to open this one (have two other cards).

I'm experiencing an issue with travel redemption. I have three purchases listed as possible travel reimbursements. I just applied 37,500 to one, and I was instantly credited the 10% bonus miles. However, when I attempted to use the highest allowable amount of miles with the second purchase, it permitted me to use most of the bonus miles but stated my resultant balance would be over 1,700 in the negative. I'm afraid to confirm the second redemption.
UPDATE: Logging out then back in corrected this.
