As an additional resource for these cards see this thread: Alaska Airlines Visa

If you are applying for a personal Alaska card, and are not an expert on applying for Alaska cards STOP, don't apply yet.
Instead, read this post. Doing that first may save you a huge amount of wasted time and frustration.

A few people in the Alaska Airlines forum have in the past received personally targeted, single-use links for a 50k offer
when they opt-in to "Partner Offers" in their Mileage Plan account preferences.

=======================================

BUSINESS CARDS

30k mile offer, $75 AF, $1k spend, no foreign transaction fees:
https://www.bankofamerica.com/smallb...-credit-card//

Note: There are two different earning formats for the business card, which you choose when you apply:
  • $50 per company, $25 per card (Business Level Earning Plan)
    • $0 per company, $75 per card (Individual Level Earning Plan)

To avoid billing confusion later, make sure you choose the Individual Level Earning Plan if you are not going to have employee cards under the same account as your account.

Also see the Applying for Business Credit Cards [Consolidated] thread (not-BofA-specific) for general tips on applying for business cards.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reconsideration # (for personal cards):

1-800-354-0401 (8am-7pm ET Mon-Fri) direct, referring agent from another BofA line called it their "credit department"

1-866-811-4108 from the Alaska Airlines Visa thread post 949

Business card Recon Line:
866-695-6598 (8-7 EST M-F from what I was told)

Biz card status line: 888 663 6262
Biz Card credit analyst line: 877 665 5022, 877 665 5023 (seems to be non-working number)

Check application status online here:
https://www.bankofamerica.com/credit...status-form.go

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Credit Enquiries for Personal cards come from BofA. Enquiries for business cards come from FIA. Credit bureaus usually merge enquiries from the same requester made on the same day. Enquiries from BofA and FIA will not be merged.

When do the initial bonus miles post? You will get the miles after the statement closes for the cycle in which you meet your minimum spend. Usually AS points show up the Sunday evening after your statement closes, but sometimes it takes an additional week.

If there's a statement credit, when does it post?
It seems to be batch-processed. It will post automatically. Can be on the same statement or the next statement. It does not appear to be based on the statement close date.

Told him I didn't want to pay the fee, and that my Starwood card was giving me more Alaska miles. He then offered 2,500 miles for keeping the card. Will post 4-6 weeks. He assured me that I can then still cancel the card.
Update: The miles actually posted 2 days later.

So glad you posted.. I just checked and I too got the 2,500 miles listed as Bank of America Signature Card Adjustment.

I have a quick question.. I am wanting to book an Alaskan Airlines flight.. and realize this would be a good time to apply for the Alaska Air card, because the $100 bonus, and it says you can also use the card right away to pay for the flights, which is nice.

But then I stopped short of submitting the application because today is Labor Day. So I wonder does anyone know.. are the recon lines closed today? I'm just thinking that if I apply and I get the "pending" message and need to call that maybe there's nobody answering the questions today? Are these numbers closed on national holidays?

Thanks in advance

edit: just to answer my own question.. they do put a voice message saying they are closed today when I tried calling the first number.. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow and hopefully the ticket price doesn't go up between now and then.

I tried contacting BOA and someone also tried for TIAA and both were closed.

For my SO they did the same. Got transferred to the fraud department, but at the end the lady was way more grumpy than the first guy. She explained that when you apply for a credit card, they pull your credit and she sees a lot of inquiries. She's like "you need to explain this to me and in detail!" I talked about maximizing my spending categories (which is actually legit reason) but also the free baggage since we fly Delta, American, Alaska, etc.

She was like "thanks for the explanation. I will submit your application for second review."

So does second review mean yet another set of eyes has to review his app? This is not looking too good The more eyes involved, the less likely it is to be approved.

I don't have any experience with BofA and their fraud department or their "second review" process. What are your thoughts?

Just an update on this issue. I called back after I saw the "decision date" had changed. Fraud department must still not believe that it's my SO applying for the card. They sent a letter and want him to respond to it.

EDIT: Got the letter in the mail today. Just had to provide the reference number and date of the letter. Now it goes back to the credit department to state that the fraud department has completely verified me, and to approve the card. So we still don't have a definite approval, but we're getting closer!

I was able to lower the limit on both my AS cards from $5k to $1k earlier today via chat.

Here are some possibly relevant details:

Although my targeted letter had an offer code to use for applying over the phone, they just told to use a website if doing it online, and the website didn't ask for anything from the letter. However:

It asked me if I am a current BofA customer, and since this far from my first AS card (even though it's my first AS business card), yes I am, so I clicked that, logged in, and it prefilled some stuff. Dunno if that made a difference in "instant" approval or not.

There were lots more questions about your business to answer than at either Citi or Amex. That threw me for a moment, but they were mostly questions that for a sole proprietor are either irrelevant or redundant (but unlike some other banks, they ask whether you're Sole Proprietor near the end of the application, and thus can't remove or change any questions based on that response).

The line you call "revenue" didn't use that word. I believe it was business income, or something like that. Anyway I did say $0, and I gave the current year and month as the start date of my business (they want both year and month!).

I gave my name as the name of my business. (My theoretical business is very sporadic consulting.)

They ask for a Federal ID somewhere up front, and you have to put in SSN there if you're sole prop. But it formats it with two digits and then a dash and then rest of the digits run together, so it looks really weird.

Anyway, since I was "instantly" approved, nobody called me and ask me anything obviously.

But therefore my experience is only a datapoint for "instant" approvals, not necessarily what happens if a human has to review your application.
I'm just now getting around to responding to this, but thanks for the info. My S.O. applied with similarl info to you about two weeks ago. She did not tick the box that she was a current customer however. She did get accepted for the Signature card right before, but didn't want to risk misleading them as a "current customer" since she had just been accepted. She did not receive instant approval on the biz card but also hasn't heard further since. Since she hasn't been in a huge hurry, she hasn't called recon or anything. Not sure if that is a good or bad sign, but I'll post once I know for sure.

I've applied and approved for my BoA Alaska card in June and then applied again in August for card #2. Then I've gotten a rejection letter for duplicate application. Do I need to space out my applications by 90 days? Or apply for multiple cards in 1 day?

I'm thinking about calling the reconsideration line for this issue. Has anyone experience this issue before?

Another update. Called back AGAIN this morning after noticing the decision date has been updated with today's date, 9/8.

They connected me to the fraud department again Spoke with a nice lady. She could see I've called in multiple times and that I've already been verified, responded to the letter that came in the mail, and the app went up for 2nd review and it was OK for approval. She did not understand why it still has not been approved.

She went ahead and approved it after verifying another security question and she's going to overnight it for the trouble.

Very happy camper after all this trouble!

Yes. These days, people seem to be waiting 90+ days if they want to be approved for another personal Alaska card.

A year ago or so, people were applying for multiple personal cards as closely as on the same day with some success, but those days are long gone.

The only way people are successfully spacing things any closer these days is applying for an Alaska business card much less than 90 days after applying for an Alaska personal card. (But that seems to be one-time reports I read. I'm not yet clear on what the rules are for re-applying for a business card after you've already applied for one before.)

What is the advantage of doing this?

Please read. It's been mentioned multiple times throughout the post, even the last few pages why people are doing this. Hint, post 3805 is helpful.

For the 1st card, I received the spending points at the 1st statement and both the spending and the bonus points at the second statement. For both times, the points were posted to my Alaska reward account the same day as the credit card statement dates. For the 2nd card, I received the spending points at the 1st statement (posted at the same day). On the 2nd statement, it shows I have earned both the spending points and the bonus points. However, it is already a week after the 2nd statement date and I have not seen any point posted to my Alaska reward account. Anybody has similar experience? Is it because I have two new cards associated with the same Alaska reward account so that they won't issue the 2nd bonus to my account (even though the points are shown on my statement)? Thanks.
My statements show I have earned both the spending points and the bonus points.
It has been 3 weeks, but none of those points have been posted to my AS account.

Ok, so personal cards will post the AS miles on the first Sunday after the statement closes that has your spend met. What about business cards? Do they follow the same rule?
