For questions on NEW applications for US Airways cards please use this thread:
USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K Bonus; AF not waived

Official: 10k annual bonus for existing cardholders will continue beyond 2014

Note: All links are expired

We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:
Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus

Current Links:
30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]

There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived

Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)

1) I applied for this card but got the message
We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues.
Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/

At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.

2) What's the reconsideration line number?

866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.

3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.

4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.

5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?

The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.

AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.

Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

I agree with you. I have gotten US cards for both my husband and me. Not only can you get the initial points on getting the card, but there is often an offer to get 15K more points by spending $750 in each of 3 consecutive months. This offer typically comes two to three months after getting the card. That makes a nice chunk of points to ultimately merge with my AA points. Just this weekend, I was with a non FT friend who has discovered the joys of credit card points. I encouraged her to do exactly what you are considering.

Yes, along with the AA one. These products will likely go away with the merged airline and loyalty program. You may even be able to squeeze in more than one churn depending on how long they take to merge.

Data point:

Applied for Barclay NFL on March 1. Approved w/ $1.5K credit limit. First barclays card.
Applied for US Air on July 9 (First). Approved after technical difficulties screen w/ $5K limit.
Applied for Arrival on July 9 (Second). Pending. No dice on getting multiple cards from Barclays in one day even with history.

I used the card once for the initial purchase (bought a $100 US Air flight), and then $50 at a restaurant once to get the 1K miles for new members of Dividend Miles dining.

Was the offer sent via email? If yes, how do I configure my online account to receive such offers? So far, I have not received anything. Thanks.

yes - somewhere in the account settings is an option to "receive promotional offers via email" or something like that. If you use gmail, you can set up filters so that all those emails get put in a subfolder and don't clutter up the inbox, then just check it occasionally.

After getting the email offer last week, I received the same offer via postal mail this week.

How do you get the 15K offer for $750 spend? I got my card in Feb of this year and I have put in mfg spend of close to 10K on it. Do I need to call them about this offer or do I stop spending for a bit and this offer might show up?

We got a folder in the mail. In our case, we had stopped using the card after the initial spend. We've gotten the promo offer on 3 US cards now (over the past 15 months).

I read somewhere in this thread before, but I can't find the posts and forgot what people said. Is AP categorized as purchase and will it satisfy the spend requirement to get the 15k bonus?

Thanks.

Believe so, as long as you select "Goods/Services" instead of "Cash Advance" when making the payment on Amazon.

I'm thinking of going for my 3rd card next month (giving it 7 months between last application). My last card was approved in Jan 2013. Wonder what my chances are getting a 3rd card.?? Still have my 2nd card but cancelled my 1st card last year.
All second time applicants, while keeping first card open.

I'm on my second card (first card cancelled). I'm not sure I'll risk a third card application yet, as it seems a little risky.

Both email and postcard.

Got another postcard offer on the same card that just finished the 15K offer (but probably wont see the bonus until Sept!) for 3x Jul to Sept on Grocery stores, Electronic stores and drug stores but capped at 2500 bonus miles so essentially $1,250 spend in those categories for 3 months then it is capped out. Not very useful.

You might not be targeted for the offer. Not everyone gets it. I received the offer for my first card, but not the second. For both cards, I had made one charge to get the bonus miles, then never used it again.

People have all kinds of theories about how usage might affect whether or not you get targeted. But we don't know what the criteria is for sure. Like I said, I had the same usage patterns on both cards, and got targeted for one but not the other.

You can call, but I doubt that it will influence whether or not you get the offer.

We have 3 of these cards in the family. Only one got $750/3 offer.
Looks totally random to me.

When you are logged i click on your name in the top right corner of the screen.

A new screen will open and on the upper right you will see "TOOLBOX" inside that box is email subscriptions
.
