For questions on NEW applications for US Airways cards please use this thread:
USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K Bonus; AF not waived

Official: 10k annual bonus for existing cardholders will continue beyond 2014

We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:
Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus

Current Links:
30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]

There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived

Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)

1) I applied for this card but got the message
We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues.
Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/

At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.

2) What's the reconsideration line number?

866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.

3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.

4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.

5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?

The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.

AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.

Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

I waited about a month before applying again after closing mine and got an instant approval. No idea if the month was necessary.

Has anyone gotten the 15K offer in the last few months? Haven't seen anyone write about it, was wondering if they still do that.

Yep, it came through last month on two of my family's accounts for spending in April/May/June.

Thanks for the data points, ninroot and esw30

What are the chances this offer is still valid a few weeks from now? Wondering if I should just take the risk and bite the bullet ASAP instead of waiting. Just unsure of the AA/US merger effecting anything with this card..

In our household, from Card No.2 to Card No.4, each was open when the previous card was still active. Each was an instant approval. In other words, we almost always have 2 cards open at any given time since Card No.2. Though never 3 cards open.

I dont think it really matters if the previous card still open or already closed, as that does not seem to affect one's chance of getting instant approval per our experiences and other posters' experiences over the course of the past 2 years.

It is more like how you manage your other applications with Other Banks so to enhance your chance of getting instant approval.

OK...I know this is the 30k mike thread but FYI.

i got my first US Air card on 12/6/2013 (instant approved for $17.5k) & wanted to get the 40k mile offer before US Air/Barclays went away. Decided to pull the trigger on 4/8 even though it has only been 4 months and I have barely used the 1st card. (1x when I first got it for the initial spend and a couple of times this month because of the offer I just got-15k miles for $750 spend each month in Apr, May & June) - Bottom line... I was instantly approved for $20k!!! 40K miles for me!!! Especially important since AA has now restructured their mileage rewards!!!

My first card is still open & I am using it.

Did you use the link from the US Airways preferred page? Just need this as a data point...

Does it make sense to sneak an app in for this card before it goes away with the US/AA merger? Will the miles push across to AADvantage now? I applied and received a Barclay Arrival in January - will that affect my app?

Yes (IMHO). Not yet - but someday TBD will. Alone this should not be a show stopper, be aware though that Barclays looks at ALL recently opened cards in the last 12 months among other things to make a determination.

ok, hesitant about having husband apply again for the USair card.

We will be traveling end of this month on USAir and having both of us canceling our card negates any baggage fees waived .

He closed first card in March right after annual 10k posted.
Last cc application was Jan for a second USAir which was declined.
Previous 6 mos opened 2 cards and one was the Barclays Arrival

I am looking for instant approval.. so is the card with the yearly fee the one to get?

I'm not sure if I'm understanding your point here, but if you intend to apply for the US Airways card in order to get waived checked bag fees for a flight later this month, you should know that the baggage fee waiver benefit doesn't go into effect until April 30, 2014.
