I plan to deplane in AMS and ride the train to BRU.

This is what I'm thinking of doing now as well. A few hours in AMS and a new line on my FM both sound good.

If you are arriving on the 17th (Saturday), perhaps we should coordinate...

I'll probably miss you by a day. Right now, I'm planning on arriving in AMS on the 16th and heading down to BRU that evening.

Just make sure you are down in BRU on Saturday evening in time for the start of the pub crawling. :)

Hartmann Dec 3, 2008 11:31 am

I'll be going into either AMS or CDG and taking the train.

While Saturday night might be the official "main event" I am quite certain that there will be crawling on Friday night as well. I may be on my own, but I'll be crawling. :D

^ I'm in for some crawling on Friday as well. I'll let you know when I figure out which train I will be on.

I'm thinking I'll see Brussels on Saturday and Bruges on Sunday.

Oh, forgot to mention that I'll be arriving on the 16th.

Hmmm - CDG might be a nice option as well. A 772 to CDG would beat a 764 to AMS...

And the Thalys is accessible from all three cities. If only CO still served CGN.

My mother-in-law also suggested Ghent as a fun college town atmosphere to visit. I have no idea how accurate the recommendation is, as she has been known to fall under the table after the first drink, but you never know...

I'm definitely going to work in a side-trip to Bruges on Sunday.

They still have some seats available from Paris to Brussels for $35. For an hour and a half ride, I can't imagine Comfort 1 is worth the extra cost.

If I do CDG I will probably opt for the connection in EWR to ride the 777 (row 44). I am planning on returning the 18th on the 12:40pm direct to IAH.

I'm going to watch the price on that routing and if it doesn't change in the next couple of weeks I'll buy it.

If you take BRU-EWR-IAH on the return, it looks like it only adds about $30 to the price of the ticket. Pretty much a wash between flying out of BRU and taking the train back down to CDG.
