Me too - I will be holding off on purchasing. I don't think I have ever paid more than $500 all-in for a coach trip to Western Europe during winter.

If France is involved, one can assume there will be smoking permitted. ;)

Not anymore. Didn't Paris (or all of France) recent ban smoking in cafes?

With the seats so wide open, at a minimum, the same fares will be available in early January - likely a week before.

Only issue on the EWR-DCA segment - say on Jan 19th - is the bookings of folks coming to DCA on the 19th for the inauguration. But CO has priced those flights high - so they are still going to want to leave some seats open for people flying from international flights.

And with cheap hotels in BRU - nothing special going on in BRU to cause those CO EWR-BRU and return flights to fill up.

Yes - as of 1/1/08, smoking is not permitted in bars, restaurants, hotel lobbies, casinos, train stations, airports, etc., but they still can have sealed smoking rooms in various establishments.

I'm seeing some fares in the $500-$550 range to BRU on US (from NYC, BOS, WAS, DTW). Unfortunately, no one seems to be matching yet.

Who wants to rent out some floor space in their room to a broke-a** flight attendant?

Looks like we MIGHT have a cheap way to get across the Atlantic:

Well worth the shuffle from LGW or LHR. I may do the same.

LCY is a fun airport. Try looking for flights on VLM. Very nice regional airline that flies F50s. Business service for coach prices.

$99 one-way from LCY to BRU... Interesting.

EWR-LHR, a limobike to LCY and then an F50 from LCY to BRU. Tempting.

Very. Though I don't know about the limobike, especially in January.
