If anyone would like me to add their flight and/or hotel info to post #3, let me know.

I'll be leaving EWR via CO60 (EWR-BRU) on Wed night. Will likely be at the PC for a few hours prior.

Staying at the Hilton Brussels City, Place Rogier 20.

Departing via train for AMS on Sunday morning.

I am actually traveling to Brussels in a couple weeks (Only for one night though)

Since I won't be around for the big trip next year can some people post up some pubs to check out while I am in town?

For the DO, I have my eye on Deliriums Cafe and Beer Circus (both in Brussels). In Antwerp, The Kulminator comes highly recommended.

I updated the first few posts with a list of pubs/bars as well as travel arrangements for some of the confirmed attendees.

Deliriums Cafe looks good

Im leaning towards Four Points for Hotel , Le Meridien is a great hotel but the 4P has a great rate and some people on the SPG forum have stayed at the 4P and reccommend it.

Bru Pub

Sounds like a great trip. Wish I could make it.

Have any of you tried the Mort Subite Pub? Interesting place and have their own beer. They also have a warm beer and the wait staff will ask you if you really want it after you order.

I was there last year and a good mix of locals and tourists. Kind of pricey but worth a look and a picture in front of The Sudden Death pub.

Interested. Have only passed through BRU, never stopped. Have spend so much time in CDG, AMS, LON, never really considered BRU. CO needs to load an L fare from DCA. Real good rate at the Marriott - booked for contingency. Renaissance is cheaper, but the location is not as convenient. (Both have club lounges) Maybe not all the events - but hook up for some if I decide yes.

TSMRSRNE and I were in CDG and AMS last year. She liked both, but especially AMS. (Couldn't keep her out of the Red Light District. No, she didn't work there.) Still, as enjoyable as AMS is, we have yet to explore BRU, so we'll probably stay put...assuming we go at all. I'm still seeing outrageously high air fares for a January!

It is too soon. The flights are empty. Nothing special going on in BRU that weekend since the rates at the major hotels are real cheap - less than 100 Euro. I suspect that CO will release L fares on the route in Nov/Dec time period.

I will be arriving BRU by train on Jan 16 in the AM.
Now im offcially all set.

I'll be there. Haven't booked a ticket yet, and probably won't do so until mid-December. I have a feeling that Oil may be around $70 then, and CO's midwinter TATL flights will be empty. Here's hoping for a $550 IAH-AMS fare! :D

cova Oct 10, 2008 8:48 am

The taxes are alot cheaper to BRU than AMS.
Currently,

EWR-BRU RT = 564 + 87 = 651 T Class
EWR-AMS RT = 532 + 160 = 692 L Class

sdm1130 Oct 10, 2008 8:51 am

I'm currently holding a reward ticket for EWR-LHR (VS UC) and BRU-EWR for the return. However, I am also hoping the fares come down in the next few months so I can earn some EQMs for this trip...

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it. :(
