I have a feeling that this year will have a whole lot more driving and a real struggle getting to Plat again using only work flights. Time to start planning some weekend MR's.

Long drives really irritate me.....I'm good for about 90 minutes tops before I start really getting bored.

Dear Employee,

Welcome to Cheapville. Population: you.

Evening Box.

Took a nice drive down through Topanga Canyon and then up the PCH to Oxnard this afternoon. The wind really started kicking up, which made it a little sketchy at times on some of the more precarious parts of the PCH.

When I was a corporate trainer I would sometimes drive PCH in the middle of the night.

I am seriously going to have an issue if, whenever the first time I travel on business is, they seriously expect me to use their La Quinta negotiated rate. I don't stay at La Quinta. :-:

Yeah....tell me about it. According to company policy, I'm supposed to drive to every appointment less than 4 hours away (and apparently in the vicinity of 4 hours if it costs even a little bit more than flying there)

Did I forget to mention that I finished last year $11,000 under budget??

At least your bags will be "luved" and they fly for free.

That's one of the 4 reasons I flew WN that one day. Others, I hate US. New Airline. I figured it's easier to condemm an airline if I actually flew on them.

It seem many EWR station managers get promoted to Smith St. With Jeff coming in, I'm sure it's just that.

Based on the salary grade posted for that EWR manager job, I tend to doubt the Station Manager (he who gave us the "hublet") is gone...pay tops out at $5,075/mo, which is low $60ks/yr.

Airlines just don't pay well. I saw some posting once for what I would have expected to be a very important and well paying position at EWR and it was paying around $35K.

I feel your pain. My manager had to take 5 layovers on an Asian trip because it saved the company $50 or so. The times we live in are .

What a bunch of slackers at your client.

Yeah, and the worst part is, they're not even my clients. I'm only out here because a colleague had a death in the family. I was supposed to be home this week. Well, if nothing else, I'm 7528 miles closer to platinum requal (and about $1300 closer to Pres. Plat)

I assume you meant PHL-CLE-AOO -- and even flying to PIT and driving doesn't help because it's still a 2+ hour drive. Ouch.

One of the advantages, I guess, of being in a service business is that, since I make money for the company by being billed out, the people I work for have a sense of the value of time (as do our clients, given that they have to pay for us).

Lots of time to drink in the lounges? That's all I got.

Have you tried flapping your arms? Or sprinkling yourself with pixie dust and thinking a happy thought?
