Really hope I get it - it'd be a step towards where I'd like to be eventually and the job sounds a lot nicer than the role I'm currently in (which is way too structured/regimented/execution-type stuff for my liking - the new role would be more of a planning position).

Best of luck! :-:

First Target I went to had nada. Second one had 2 Pepsi throwbacks and about 6 Mtn Dew throwbacks. Light selection, but I had to take the last of the Pepsi...

I've certainly flown my fair share of Y travel too (mostly on RJ's). What bothered me about WN was having to stand in line in my boarding group (this was when it was still just 3 groups) for a full hour to have a chance at a half-decent seat rather than going to get something from the food court. I understand this boarding method has been updated but it still left a  taste in my mouth.

What also really got to me was the joking around during the FA announcements...especially the safety briefing. Like some of y'all, I've seen safety briefings hundreds of times but I'll admit that I still pay attention every single time. Last year had at least two major incidents (US's landing in the river and CO's runway exit at DEN) without a single fatality and I feel that this proves that safety should never be screwed around with.

Southwest's jokes may seem kitchy to some people but I just think they're really irritating and awful.

For those of you on twitter, you really should follow FakeAPStylebook. They actually provide real grammar/writing style advice when queried. Those replies are generally via DM. But they also offer up some great every-day usability suggestions a couple times daily, such as this gem:

Use standard abbreviations for foreign money: EUR for euros, AUD for Australian dollars, CBP for Canadian beaver pelts, etc.
I highly recommend it. :D

Just got back online but no, it wasn't (so the Box doesn't think I ignored your question). And I don't see the charge I was worried about from the other hotel on my credit card statements ;)

I don't have Twitter, but I do check out FakeAPStylebook every now and then...great Twitter reading for a former collegiate journalist.

Weird. Just had a grey colored Huey fly over my house. I heard it first before I saw it.

Hueys are famous for that, especially the older ones with only two rotor blades. Read almost any book about ground combat in Vietnam; there are soldier's accounts of being in a really rough spot and hearing that trademark whomp-whomp sound during a lull in the gunfire and knowing that help and/or medevac was very soon to come.

I see your point and I don't disagree, but there are always going to be that group of people who think that corny material during the safety briefing is a good tool to hold people's attention.

Good news for any people that visit BOS with any regularity and aren't PC members - free wi-fi coming to BOS now: http://www.boston.com/travel/blog/20..._offering.html

Thanks!

And today has been quite the day so far for the Commonwealth...free wi-fi and that little election they're having.

mersk862 Jan 19, 2010 4:51 pm

Just opened up my first Pepsi throwback...ah to taste cola the way it should taste.

ConciergeMike Jan 19, 2010 4:58 pm

How is the MA election going? Given some of the posts it sounds like the Kennedys are going to kicked out.
