Since I'm still up, I might as well take the flank steak out of the freezer.

What about Amtrak or flying via the hublet?

I found PHL-EWR-SAN-IAH-PHL with an hour on the ground in SAN on 3/23 for $260 all in.

That's a bit steep. UA had some $198 transcons in PS ...

it is early in the morning. I am having pork chop and bagel for breakfast, with a bit of smoked salmon. on the floor. in a cold, bright, noisy room.
It sounds sort of like the execution chamber.

Good morning, Box.

Back from my MR: PHL-IAH-SAN-IAH-PHL. Upgraded on SAN-IAH and IAH-PHL. Outbound flights both fairly heavy and I was not #1 on the upgrade lists

Managed to drive home in lightening quick time - 1hr 15 mins door-door (might have something to do with driving at 80mph on I-95 - just sayin ....)

For youse folks waiting for 1776, sorry I couldn't drop by the club, I had just enough time to make it from B88 over to E4 and get on this PIT flight. Drink one for me. :D^

We missed you! I spent a very nice couple of hours hanging out with Mtbroxs in the C South PC at IAH while we waited for our IAH=PHL flight. He came in from SNA around the same time I came in from SAN.

^^ Any time! I'm thinking that we need to do a South American MR so I can get a new line on my FM.

Okey-dokey, Box. It's taken me nearly an hour to catch up on one day's worth of posting. You guys were busy today/yesterday.

I'm going to bed now.

Nighty-night!

Does anyone else remember the Jim Croce lyric from the song Speedball Tucker ... "...And 95 was the route you were on, it was not the speed limit sign." ???

I know that if I took Amtrak, I would still get  because "it takes longer than driving, isn't a good use of my time, and I still have to rent a car when I get there"

Also, the Saturday (1/30) AM departure would barely get me home in time for the show we're going to in New Brunswick that night (and we know how often routes outside the Northeast Corridor are delayed). Plus, I'm sure I would take some  for the extra hotel night on Friday.

I also got crap for taking the train to Baltimore two weeks ago instead of driving. In almost 9 years on the job, I've never driven to Baltimore/Washington and have never had it questioned once.

Flying to DUJ via CLE is even more expensive as is EWR-PIT.

Like Bob Dylan said, "The times they are a-changin'". If this job becomes nothing but long friggin' drives all over the place, I'll be very unhappy. :(

I've had my passport since the middle of last year and it's still shiny, new, and unstamped. Also, let's make sure that when we pick a route, it's at least EUA'able (a good feature of any long-ish flight done on the cheap). Since I've never taken a proper MR, I'll leave the destination choosing in your capable hands.
