My plumbing problems are solved! After months of trying to locate a replacement part for two of the three shower/tub valves we have, I finally found some information online that diagrammed the assembly of the cartridge in our faucets. It turns out what appeared to be a solid brass piece was actually two pieces, one that should move easily inside the other. A few taps with a hammer and the thing came apart. After cleaning the mineral deposits off and lubing it up with silicone plumber's grease, it went back together and the old parts work like brand new. We now have both hot and cold water in both showers and the whirlpool tub, instead of only having both in the master shower, cold only in the guest shower, and blazing hot only in the tub. A few hours of work and a lot of determination today have saved us a big plumber's bill. Next step was cutting walls and replacing the faucets completely.

Yes, it was a long day in the office ...

I need to check out, drop off recycling, then start my Hyatt run.

Congratulations!

How do I tell SPG.com to stop giving CO miles and give me Starpoints?

I think you have to call them.

SPG. I am loving the 1st quarter bonus.

Me too. We've burned some SPG points lately so I need to replenish that balance. This quarter's bonus will really help with that. And it's a pretty ingenius promotion as it encourages some of us who hotel hop to spend more nights with SPG. I've been guilty of hitting the Baton Rouge Sheraton for one night, then going to the Marriott or Hilton for the rest of the week, just for the SPG stay credit. I guess the Sheraton will be seeing me for all four nights several times in the next couple of months.

Congrats! I don't think I had 50 posts my first year ;)

Wow, good news is all over my house today. My other half just got an e-mail from SPG stating they had corrected the point posting problem last month that had prevented him from getting SPG Gold last year. He's now Gold, just in time for three stays he has coming up in the next 10 days. If he plays his cards right, we may be a double SPG Platinum couple before the year is over. And it looks like at least CO Silver may be in reach for him this year, if not Gold.

If I were still a corporate trainer (leave Monday morning, come home Friday night) I would also be all over the SPG promo.

When will he be converted to a FT Box employee?

Yes, it was a long day in the office ...

Plumbing as faucets in the walls of our condo. Not plumbing as in ALCO ate some street food he shouldn't have in a developing country after flying in on a Soviet-era Tupolev or first generation Boeing jet.

ssullivan Jan 8, 2010 4:18 pm

I hope we can order in food tonight. When I went out to meet my partner at the MARTA station, and then to run to Lowe's, some of the streets in our neighborhood were pretty awful. It was still daylight then, and we could see the ice. I have no desire for us to drive in the dark tonight, and there's nothing here to eat. I'm praying our Chinese place is open and willing to bring us some food.

I'd be even more all over it if I was traveling to bigger cities with more choices this spring. However, some of the SPG properties in far North Houston are only an hour away from one of my clients. I'm weighing doing that commute just to get the points.
