:D

It is great when we have 3 of them during the 0900 bank in the summers. IAH/LAX/LAS. Down to LAS this time of year, though rotates to SJU and CUN on Saturdays as well.

Fair enough. But, if CO never reinstated EWR-ANC and UA dropped ORD-ANC, i can't see how PHL-ANC will work.

Heheh, I would beg to differ, having done that several times. :D

For me, it was rather painful. Then again, I started at 6am local time and did SAN-LAX-HNL-GUM-HKG all nonstop.

I am guessing that they already have some promises from cruise lines in their back pocket.

$1k to GUM is spectacular from the East Coast for requalification purposes. The only downside is the time spent doing it. I can think of a lot better uses of six days, but very few if any of those uses involve getting almost 50% of the way to *G for the year on one ticket at that price point.

CO is stingy when it comes to the availability and sale of one-ways though... Trying to go BOS-IAH o/w gives me only options with multiple connections, yet the r/t options are the non-stop flights.

When are you seeing those one-ways?

Scattered throughout January.

Yikes! That is a tough one.

I know how wiped I was doing JFK-DXB-CMB-MLE with a long layover in DXB. Even with that amazing EK service I was a groggy grumpy mess when we arrived in Male.

Indeed. It's a net positive all around since more competition might bring fares down on the existing connecting itineraries. The flight, if it survives one cruise season, will probably make money on cargo at all other times...I remember reading somewhere that PHL Cargo City was some kind of recordholder for throughput cargo volume. Cruising in Alaska is also well-known to be a very narrow demographic: many people do not entertain the thought of Alaska until their late 40's. Disposable vacation income, at least in theory. US knows this and knows they at least temporarily have a nonstop monopoly from a popular point of origin for the cruise industry. Princess was giving away balconies in Alaska this year because the demand was so soft. When the cruising demand returns to where it should be, that flight would hopefully still be there.

Haha. We'll see if the loads bear out my theory.

See above and below. They are probably getting guarantees from at least Carnival Corp., which is Princess and Holland America, and probably RCCL too. It's not an unreasonable sell for a travel agent to accept a short backtrack itinerary from the cruise line's air department for clients that don't live along the coast. Is PIT/ALB/SYR/ROC/CLE-PHL-ANC an unreasonable itinerary for a normal person (read: non-FTer)?

Of course it's the only YUL-EWR flight they canceled and the agent is insisting it was due to the TSA's requirement for weather. :(

Most excellent - checked the Hyatt website and rooms at BNA for tonight are now available for $10 a night cheaper than they were on Wednesday (same number of bonus points).

Any Dexter fans in the Box? I signed up to watch the season finale with the party at the Sheraton on Sunday and realize that I have no interest in the show at all. But I can bring a guest. Anyone interested?

All of my exam questions are applied.
