They conduct business in a much different way there, certainly.

What about the NFL trying to expand their brand overseas, folly or long term expansion? :-:

While I would like to attend a game abroad for the experience, I can't portend to know whether that's a reasonable endeavor. I tend - from the economic standpoint - to think a league would have already formed if it were viable now. Hard to brand when people can only experience one game a year in person.

Isn't this one online though?

Both are indeed online, which is much more time-consuming for me.

Do you give them a list showing how much Baksheesh is required to do business in each? :D

We spoke about FCPA versus legal facilitation payments last week. They had trouble with the facilitation payments to government staff part until I explained most of them provide facilitation payments in their personal lives (in the private sector) already.

A friend and I agreed last winter to go ice skating. It never happened. We said the same thing to each other the other night. I'm holding him to it this time...I want to believe that I have the coordination to skate.

There was one in Reston when I was there, late 1999-2003. The Trader Joes was across the street (by the "Hechinger's Center" that became a Home Depot) with a Sutton Place Gourmet across the parking lot. At times I would simply allocate a dollar amount for indulgences among the three stores.

That shows me how little exploring I've done down there with all of the trips I've done including going back and forth from an office builidng in Reston to hotel in Herndon.

Mr Hockey hasn't skated? :D I find that hard to believe, my family has all skated 5-6 times across the country :)

They are looking at the long term. I am acquainted with the head of NFL.UK and he is pitching right now for a second game to be scheduled there.

The show that he puts on is amazing. It is one of the great football experiences that I ever had, including the Super Bowl. There is a fairly large core crowd of fans there and I believe, as he does, that he can easily sell out a second game and that a team over there is not too far off the horizon.

How much is the novelty factor and how much would be repeat business? NFL-EU had problems so I wonder if expansion there is .

And as much as I love football, I can't think that an 18 game season is good for the league/players. It's a brutal game already.

Food / beverage is one of the biggest segments where variation is required for international business. Both at the World of Coca-Cola and abroad, I've had some "interesting" Coke products.

I really wanted to go to the Giants/Miami game in the new Wembly a couple of years ago.

Coordination to skate is one thing. Coordination to stop is another skill that takes time (or gently crashing the boards).

I have been on skates. Whether or not the activity I engaged in really constituted skating is another argument entirely.

In other news, I saw this box of greeting cards at Target last night:

They had the development league which had two teams in the UK and four or five others in Europe. It was not promoted as a major league but was extremely popular, especially in the UK. I do believe that one competitive NFL team in London would do well.

The Brits love the pageantry, the uniforms, and have even learned many of the nuances of the game. There were 80,000 of them at Wembley last month shouting their lungs out. On the train back into town I heard many intelligent comments and engaged some of them in conversation about the game.

Here's an international cultural tip. Never order a Coke, or any other soda for that fact, in Vancouver, BC.
