I'd still rather fly the 735 than the E90.

Glad it's not just me. I noticed it just as soon as I stepped into the jetway this afternoon.

Don't know enough to compare intelligently - never flown E90 and last time I was on a 735, I did make it into F on my certs.

Do we have any reason to believe that US will credit CO at anything less than 100% for the back cabin?

Yeah, it is. The DC-9 has a similar one too.

But the NW exit row seats are far more comfortable than most of DL's. DL manages to ruin what could be great exit row seats on its 738s and 757s by giving you two tray tables — one on the back of the seat in front of you, and another in the armrest. As a result, the exit row has reduced seat width — and the window exit row seat is even further reduced in width by the stubby armrest attached to the window hatch, which sticks out into the seat space much more than a normal armrest. DL's 738 exit row is probably the worst exit row on any plane I've ever flown.

The DL hubris is extending to the outstations. I didn't detect the same vibe from the DL crews as I do CO. If channa thinks that CO preaches that it can do no wrong and has arrogant staff, he needs to get on DL. Onboard comfort cannot make up for  ground handling.

The NW crews were never hired for looks, but I've generally had outstanding service from them both in the air and on the ground. They seem to be hanging in there through this merger, but on my flights with them this year, I've generally detected a certain sadness about the whole merger. There was a lot of pride at NW, especially in the Upper Midwest, and I think of lot of their employees have not been too thrilled with the transition to a new culture and management style.

This is what I've done today.
Take kid to school.
Take dog to dog park.
Pick kid up from school...it's a half day today.
Drive kid to East Palo Alto to see his girlfriend that just came back from a trip.
Hang out at Ikea (sorry Plus1) for over a hour. Bought $10 worth of stuff.
Drive kid back to school for football practice.
Pick kid up from football practice.
Drive kid to girlfriend's house, again.
Eat dinner
Pick kid up from girlfriend's house, again.

Can't wait for the candy to arrive. My mouth is already watering. Thanks. :)

The 735 has much larger overhead bins throughout the plane and gives a much smoother ride in rough air. Unfortunately that larger size is what makes it less desirable from a profit standpoint. It's a pretty heavy plane for the number of passengers it carries, which is part of the reason why many airlines went with the DC-9 over the 737 back in the day when those planes were being sold primarily to serve routes of under 1,000 miles that often involved multiple stops along the way at smaller airports. It's also the reason the numbers never worked well for the 737-100, and why the 737-200 was only a modest success. It really took the 737-300 before the type came into its own as a workhorse that could fill the role that the 727 had traditionally filled.

A319 in Y or F?

I liked the 319 and 320 in F. The 320 is about the most comfy domestic first seat, in padding and recline.

NW actually had two 320 F seats; some of the older planes that had overwater equipment and were originally delivered with an IFE system had an F seat that wasn't nearly as comfortable. It had a very low back, and a different armrest and cushion. Those seats were OK, but not nearly as comfortable as the newer version found on the 319s and newer 320s.

We have it for the BooDoo at the end of the month but I have stayed double-booked at Le Meridien and will not cancel that one until I get an eyewitness account.

No first hand reports that I have seen, just something on Twitter saying that it was open. SPG.com seems to indicate this as well.

Good morning Box. It's cold in here - time to turn on some heat! Burrrr!
