Yes, yes! For some reason, I thought both of you worked together. Where were you guys when I needed you 6 years ago when my little one (2yrs old at the time) choked on a candy I had given her (bad mommy). Man, that was the scariest time of my life. The candy completely blocked her airway. She stopped breathing and was turning blue. I tried everything to get it out - finger down the throat, upside down bashing on her back, the heimlich (sp?), but nothing worked.

I was hysterical with fear - very calm on the outside, but screaming inside - and decided there was no way this child was going to die in front of me. It had taken me 10 years to be gifted with her, so I laid her down on the floor and punched her in the stomach so hard that the candy flew out just as the EMTs came flying through the door.

Then I collapsed on the floor like a gibbering idiot.

I still have nightmares about it. Horrible, I tell you, horrible.

This city is FUBAR. Not only is the construction project on the length of our street long over schedule, but they decided to completely close it today without any notice (beyond my neighbor hollering at me when I took the dawg out to tinkle). Yep, it is paving time - NOW! Never mind those of us who work from home or soccer mom's doing their thing, some dude from the city is chasing down cars and saying no, no, no while tar is getting sprayed and dump trucks stage with asphalt. That's right, for the next 2-3 hours I am under house arrest. :mad:

But at least my Baghdadesque street will not longer be a teeth rattler, much to the relief of the Seamuswagon (my Passat Wagon bought for lugging dogs, bikes and mulch.).

As far as motivation for "letting" an attack happen, (particularly a surprise attack that, because of the delay in seeing the Ambassador referenced above, made it a violation of international law), the argument is that the US public was very isolationist, and would not accept the US' entry into conflict either in Europe or the Pacific, unless greatly provoked.

There are many, many documents still classified, and they'll remain so for a very long time. I will never know for sure in my lifetime. You may, or may not, in yours.

Air Force 1 is coming to ALB. Can anyone of my resident experts tell me if the 747 can land there? I'd like to see but I imagine traffic will be a nightmare in that area.

longest runway is 8500 , so I would think so.

As per its Wiki page, ALB has previously handled an A343 and a C-5. I read on FT that a CO 772 diverted there. AF1 in its current iteration should not be a problem. That might change in a few years when the White House upgrades to 747-8I.
