The local VW dealer has done this to us twice. Once, during an oil change, they sliced open a hose that is part of the cooling system, resulting in my wife running out of coolant (as in zero) on the interstate. The other time they destroyed one of the car's speakers while fixing a window. We no longer take our car there. @:-)

When I lived in EAR, I'd drive to OMA at least once a month (okay, it would usually be in conjuction with a flight) and do shopping there. Perishables? No issue - That's what coolers were made for! I also had my hair done in OMA. Some things just can't be done in a small town.

The trek out to LGA today for the *DO meeting was interesting. I got trapped in Queens on the F train for about 40 minutes. At least we had power and AC. Of course a dumb automated announcement played over and over and over telling us that we were waiting because there were trains in front of us. it turned out to be some sort of signal problem.

That's nothing -- Our Volvo dealer once smashed the top of our car against the top of their lift. We got a loaner car and free b:rolleyes:dy work.

Strangely, that makes me feel better (though at least that's something you find out right away, not the next day with a kid in the back seat of the car). Still not taking the VW back to that dealer, though.

We got credit on our bill for the outage. But, the main problem was there was no internet connection for us so I lost at least 30 posts on FT .
I got my TiVo box as a gift, and the generous gift-giver included a lifetime subscription with it. As long as it's kickin', I am not payiing $10/month for a DVR through Time Warner. And as long as my phone works and my internet (usually) works......I'm just keeping my internet service with the phone company. I cannot imagine all four of them crapping out at once during an outage. |
Night, b:rolleyes:x ... I need a sleep . <yawn> zzzzzzzzzzzz

Jason Whitlock is still employed because he draws attention. The day that stops, he's gone.
I'm finally all fixed up but for my wacky sleep patterns. That other thing which tends to happen thanks to pain medication resolved itself as well. ^ I was a Carter transition birth. Born 12 days after the election...but I was a late baby. I should have been born on Election Day. |

I had to bow out of the *MegaDo today after confirming last week. :( I'm going to take a little time off of traveling. It sucks getting old and your body falls apart. Glad Plus1 and I have one last hoorah to Scotland and the St. Malo Do before I go under the knife.

Don't like the sound of that (says the person delaying disc replacement as long as possible).
In more positive physical news, I got racquetball again today. And I'm down another three pounds despite last weekend and a bunch of ceremonial functions with food. This places my BMI at 26.5, which is very exciting!

Figured that was where you were when you described what was nearby. Congrats again and I'm sure it's going to be a great, and long-term, gig for you.
Oh, speaking of festering... today's official high in Houston - 100 degrees. The 16th day of the summer with 100 degrees or higher. |
