15 August - were officially "back-ordered" at the time.

Excellent! After seeing this, I checked my 3 orders from 8/15-8/16 and they are "in stock and reserved", so I'm hopeful that they'll arrive before I leave on Tuesday. I was hopeful enough that I went in & got 3 more orders tonight. This is beginning to get addicting.

G'night b:rolleyes:x; another long day tomorrow. My friend is coming in on the 1115PM EWR-IAH flight. After w:rolleyes:rk, we gotta run the vacuum, eat and then my wife & I are heading to IAH for some after dinner drinks from ~8-11. I told our friend that she's the DD tomorrow when she lands. Will anyone be at IAH that late? I'll post it in the PC thread tomorrow.

That's too bad. Perhaps, once you have been there for a while, you can suggest to the powers that be that they consider bringing on the theme music. I'm sure it would be a big hit in the Festering Pit.

Oh, speaking of festering... today's official high in Houston - 100 degrees. The 16th day of the summer with 100 degrees or higher.

I was in Dallas earlier this week and it was already 90+ degrees at six in the morning; my eyeballs were sweating. I don't know how anyone stands it.

Ok, yeah, well I'm going to 1-up. :D :p;) We've had 52++ days over 100 here in AUS since June. It is severely abnormal. I heard on the news we normally get around 12 days.

All this food talk. I made a NY cheesecake this evening and appears something may be wrong. I followed all the rules (room temp ingredients, no overblending or overcooking, water bath, etc). After 1.5 hours of cooling in the oven, it is still a bit jiggly. Not sure if time in the fridge will help.

Seems the last time I made a cheesecake 10 or so years ago I followed none of those guidelines and it came out great.

I make cheesecake fairly regularly (one of my go-to bring-to-party items) and an overnight in the fridge really does do the trick. Also, if you use a springform pan, you're generally OK without a water bath.

I've been in BTR for the last 2 days and I SWEAR it has not been as hot here as whatever I left in NJ was.

I may have to try it again.. but since I've posted, I've noticed the sides pulling back and it firming up a bunch more. Perhaps the night in the fridge will help (I'm waiting until 12:30 am to shove it in. :) )

It was really hard to tell what was best practice from the websites I visited... I almost didn't do the water bath (I do have the springform pan).

I will let you know if it turned out ok on Saturday after we try it out.. or not.. :D

Wow....RiffTrax was fantastic! If this was popular enough, maybe they'll turn it into an anual thing (fingers crossed). We had some feed problems at the beginning which made us miss some of those douchey songs/commercials but we got to see the whole Stewardess Training Film and all of the movie with no problem.

Those guys are friggin' brilliant! ^

Just to catch up on the evening:

Baglady, I hope you have a speedy recovery from your surgery.

Plus1, maybe you should try wearing a muzzle at night? :D

jrzyshawn , xyzzy, or IAHtraveler, I'm about to make my first coin deposit....I thought I could just walk into a branch with $2500 worth and not have a problem but if you think there's a way that will get less  from the bank (especially when the larger orders start), please share.

Also, I see that you keep talking about these huge orders....I thought you could only order $500 of each president every 4 months. What's your secret??

Finally, all NY/NJ/PA residents, and people thinking about coming to the great garden , The Steve GadFly band (aka Stronger Than Dirt has got gigs in Woodbridge, NJ and Freehold on 9/4 & 9/5 respectively. That's right BEFORE the AYCJ pass on Jet Blue starts so that's not a valid excuse :p.

I'll post details and links in Teh Box tomorrow but I thought I'd let y'all know so you could put it in the back of your mind.

On that note, G'night Box.

Addicting?! -- I thought you were the dollar coin King!:D
My order from 8/14 (NA) says 'shipped' but the UPS tracking # is not working yet. I just put another order in & it says b/o until 9/5.

Yikes! Can't even possibly conceive of living in that kind of heat & humidity!

I'm enjoying being away from NJ during the heatwave there. It's delightful here in COS. I'm just a bit concerned about Hurr Bill, as I will be flying into EWR near midnite on Sat.:rolleyes:

Amazingly, I will be in NJ the w/end of 9/4-5 -- so I hope to make it to one of the gigs (prob. Woodbridge, as it's closer!)

Re: coins -- I'm wondering the same thing about the Prez. You should be fine w/the $2500 deposit. I don't take more than that per bank. For me, that's the most I can possibly carry. I have been making payments to my CO PP MC directly w/ the coins at Chase. ^ Good luck w/your bank dep -- hope it goes smoothly!;)

G'Morning. Congrats on the wife accepting the job. It may not be perfect but better than nothing.

I was supposed to be there too this week, and am so glad I got the week home instead. I can't say I missed the place either.
