Downtown Houston getting nailed with rain... again. We need the rain, though, not falling on the concrete and asphalt garden.

We've done better up here in north west central texas than the coast this year....on rainfall. I was watching news in corpus and they were talking about a bad drought. Not the case up here!

The recent rain/humidity and temperature combination here has resulted in huge mushroom blooms within a few days of cutting grass. I've even had a mushroom patch where a large walnut tree was removed (severely nitrogen depleted).

There is a big bucket of nothing over AUS. We'll take some of the rain you all have been getting. My back yard is almost completely dead :(. Lake Travis is so low that the one remaining boat ramp might close soon.

Speaking of average food, had dinner in SF also at Fleur de Lys, Thomas Keller's restaurant. $79 a person for a three course dinner. Had crab salad as the starter and sea bass with sunflower seeds and mustard greens (something like that). Anyway, it was very average. For dessert I did have their Fleurburger which was very nice and presented very well. The "burger" was put together with a beignet as the bun, chocolate ganache as the burger, passionfruit as the cheese, kiwi as the lettuce, strawberry as the tomato. A kiwi wedge acted as the pickle spear, a shot glass of banana smoothie as the shake, a small dollop of whip cream as the mayo and finally fennel ice cream as the fries in a chocolate cup. Needless to say this was the highlight of the meal.

That's sad - one of my neighbors was commenting that he had forgone mowing his lawn because he was expecting it to be dead already. Not dead but dormant and brown/yellow, which is ordinarily true here.

Fleur de Lys is Hubert Keller (on Top Chef Masters this season); Thomas Keller is French Laundry, Bouchon, etc.

I've had to mow my yard 5 times this spring/summer, a record out here....

Small fuego in the cafe in my office building just brought me outside for a solid hour. ^

Ahhh, it was one of the Kellers :p. I was comparing it to my meals at French Laundry and Bouchon. I guess that's why it was very average in comparison.

I eat at Bouchon every time I'm in LAS.

You around the city tonight? I'm going to go home and go running before heading to MSG but I can get there around 7ish if you want to grab a drink.

I used to do that but with all the new restaurants at Palazzo I've been wanting to try those. I've had breakfast at Bouchon the last three trips though and it has been good. If you haven't had chicken and waffles before, get it at Bouchon first ^.

I didn't say my yard was perfect, I could mow it every 8 days too, but it is out in the county it is quite tall when I mow :D

Y'all should know me by now, I'm all food related :D.

I'm still thinking about this Cherry Bomb I had at Pier 39 at Fisherman's Wharf at a place called The Fudge House. Chocolate casing with cherry, dark and milk chocolate fudge and mousse all together. Wow, that was exceptional.
