I never thought I'd be happy to see so much rain. Let our lawn rejoice!

Yep. Was nice to see the sky open up this morning.

And somehow it completely missed here. It goes to the north, and it goes to the south/east, but nein for north Austin. I suppose I should stop whining; when Spring rolls around it will be rocking and rolling up here.

  • In SYD I ran into a friend of a friend on a ferry (unplanned).
  • In CLT (not the other side of the world, but still amusing) I ran into my 7th grade history teacher who molested my friend and had been incarcerated for about 5 years.
  • In HKT the Canuck spotted my coworker's brother, who she had never met (and I had only met once before). I went up to him and said "are you from Jersey" and after almost punching me, we established that we did, in fact, kinda know each other.
  • In Times Square (don't hate me ) I ran into my ex Australian girlfriend who had conveniently forgotten to tell me she was visiting NY.
  • I run into people all the time in the FRA flughafen.

... I'm sure there's more, but it's still kinda early.

Morning box.

I ran into a friend's girlfriend in Barcelona, my other friends who did not know her were trying to pick her and her friends up, I showed up to close the deal for them and saw it was her :o

I have paid $850 for CLE-SYR and that was Y also, but that price didn't change over a 3 week period. Since it was a one day trip during the week, there were no other fares offered. Suspect my client got the shaft for that one. How do I go about checking the Y fare basis on an already purchased ticket?

Do any of you know of any good codes to use on National or any other car company out of LGA? My wifes family is going to Boston to see her sister and she wants to go next weekend.

The bad news is that rental fares out of LGA are almost double of what you will pay at a local non-airport site. If you can find any car rental sites near LGA, it may be cheaper to take a cab to it and rent from there. They do not charge extra to drop at the airport (assuming they have service at the airport).

You could call and ask, absent a printed copy of the fare rules for that particular purchase.

Actually, you probably paid $1 to go to SYR and $849 to leave.

The best thing about SYR is leaving.

You could take the Metro North to White Plains. There's several car rental places around here.

Although that would probably add a sufficient amount of  to your trip to not offset the cost.

I live in Astoria and work in Midtown so it really doesnt matter where I rent. I just thought LGA would be convienent and cheap. Ive searched a number of sites and tried a ton of codes but still cant get anything under $100 a day.

Ive got a coupon connection request out there to see if I cant trade a $100 airline gc and 2 P-Club passes for 4 days.

$100 a day sounds like the number for a summer weekend in NYC. That is if you can even find a car to rent. IMO, it is unlikely at this stage that you can get a car anywhere in town except at the airport on a Friday evening or Saturday morning unless you have a reservation far in advance.

You might be just as well or better off to bus or train to Boston and rent a car up there.

Steph3n Jul 7, 2009 9:05 am

what about zipcar? I saw one of those last weekend.

Thought about that too. Bus tickets are $30 each/rt. Car in BOS is ~$60/day. This would only save me about $20 and I would be stuck to working plans around the bus schedule.
