The Sheraton may be nicer as it seems to be a bit further up and secluded.

I would highly recommend any of those before visiting Jamaica.
Jamaica is the place you go to because its cheap, you need to see the sun and get drunk on rum and tings and never plan on leaving the resort. Its fine for 4 days. Interesting regarding the Sheraton Maui. I might need to give that a closer look. @:-) |

If you have not yet visited Barbados, Grenada, Aruba, St. Maarten, St. Thomas/St. John, or the Dominican Republic... I would highly recommend any of those before visiting Jamaica. A 10 Day Southern Caribbean cruise departing from San Juan would likely hit many (if not all) of those, with the exception of the Dominican Republic.

I like to wander around too much to stay on a resort, so we have avoided "interesting" counties like the Dominican and Jamaica. I have tried Aruba, Puerto Rico, St. Croix and Antigua to date, with Antigua being my favorite as it was the least commercialized. That being said, the beaches and restaurants of Aruba were spectacular, as was the unique scenery when driving to the north side of the island. Plus, seeing all of the wild iguanas cracked me up.

I can take or leave Aruba. Trade winds suck. I would go back again, but just for one day to play some tradewind golf.
Grenada is worth a visit for invasion-historical reasons. I snorkeled off the coast but did not set foot on the island. Years after the invasion, I found out that a doctor working at Southern Ocean County Hospital who badly managed my mother's care was one of the evacuated medical students. I found this out by seeing her on the History Channel. St. Thomas = golf, beach, shopping. Dominican = golf, beach, shopping. |
Oh, a New Jersey Sonic update: saw a "Coming Soon: Sonic" sign just off of Route 72 East in Manahawkin not long after getting off the Parkway.

I'd have to say that Jamaica is my second least-favorite Caribbean destination, second only in  to Dominica. Nassau is a close third.

For those taking advantage of the DL JFK-ZRH special - apparently, the non-stop service between those city pairs is ending earlier than expected; one's itinerary may have been revised to connect in ATL (so you would want to check). If my itinerary had been changed to connect in ATL, I would be receiving a refund ...
