Michael Boyd usually is spot-on when the talking heads go to him for comment, but this is something I just don't get:

WN will probably never break from a single fleet type. Would the gates and the passenger access be worth buying the entirety of the distressed assets (a shade under $109MM, BTW) to temporarily operate Airbuses and Q400's? Obviously Gary Kelly didn't think it was a good idea, so why would Boyd come up with a theory like that?

I could see UA putting in a bid for F9 as they operate the 319 and they could increase market share in the DEN hub(let).

I just paid $58.50 to renew mine, and most of that pays for school buses.

Gary Kelly would be putting up something closer to 1/4 billion, as Republic was a large debt/claim holder even before providing the DIP financing.

All of the plates that I wanted at the time that I first started looking into getting plates had something to do with the job in the Air Force, and I couldn't come up with a combination of letters related to the job that would have not drawn the attention of the FBI. My initial favorite idea was BOMBLDR ("bomb builder") - My radio callsign was another idea - AMMO 38. The knowledge that BOM is the nomenclature by which bombing cases are referred to by the FBI didn't help either...the internal designator at the Bureau for Oklahoma City was OKBOM, for example. It was only after I left the job that I came up with lettering that would not draw suspicion, and since I wasn't on the job anymore, it was pointless. In retrospect, I could have done PAVEWAY, PGM GUY, AIM-9, AIM-120, F16BOOM, or any number of inside references that only someone on the job would comprehend...but I was younger and dumber then.

I have a geekery thing with vanity plates....I like seeing them on the road and trying to figure out ones that aren't obvious. Here's a huge dose of useless information: noted wildlife/bird photographer Scott Bourne has a vanity plate: BOKEH.

It was either OMG BBQ or my ham radio callsign, KE5BGY. I went with humor over utility.

No, OMG BBQ is a clean version of OMG...BBQ, a very old Internet saying that predates Steam and the creation of TF2. However, TF2 did employ it quite usefully.

I think the new resident vehicle tax used to $200.

Team TX is having a strong showing in today's Box in a bid to reclaim it from the NY/NJ'tutes.

Vanity plates must be free in virginia, I literally saw more vanity plates than stock issue plates there!

Team TX is always bigger and better, just by virtue of the state.

Me too, I was in Florida on and off for 5 years and came back at minimum once a month for a few days. Of course my house was always in TX, lived in some company condo in Florida, so my home was always here.
3 years ago I got to the livable point in my house here in TX that I built, still have a few things needed on it, but it is paid off and I am happy with a board missing on the ceiling beam, till Sept or so at least...:D

No, he just got lost in the LA swamps, he tried remembering the trees but just got lost. It is easy to do even the best guides get lost out there.

Then it goes from a bad idea to a stupid idea at that price. They would be getting the gates and the passenger base and not much else, given that WN would have to bring in 737's and pay for those airplanes. The financing isn't out there for multitudes of new planes, the used market isn't a place that WN is known to go, and same said used market would not absorb all of those 319's becoming available. The Q400's would sell quickly, but not the big jets.
