Perhaps he should have called Claudio . . . .

I think Claudio was on my EZE-IAH flight because they played the Portuguese safety video instead of Espanol.

Sounds like a promising DO... who can drink the most and do the most nothing. I think we'll need Butler Service to deliver nuestros tragos to the beachside palapa. I'm willing to take a +2 drink handicap if we can stage it in Barbados. I doubt it would be fair to others without the handicap, as I have terrorized the fine proprietors of the Mount Gay distillery on too many occasions.

Being a self confessed light weight I'll volunteer to be an impartial judge for this competition. Cash "donations" from the contestants are welcomed and of course appreciated.

Yes, Jim Thompson silk throw pillows are FAR superior to Isaac Mizrahi .... :D

The St. Regis SIN is a Cat 5; I could have sworn that just a couple of weeks ago, it was listed as a Cat 6.

I'm off to TPA tomorrow for a few daze to do some apartment hunting... found a nice way to start the trip off in my mailbox this morning:

You've been upgraded from Cleveland, OH (CLE) to Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL (TPA) on Wed., Jun. 17, 2009. Your new seat is 3F. Below is a recap of your flight information:
Mr. UnkFrank
OnePass/Partner Frequent Flyer: ********
Continental Confirmation Number: ********

Wed., Jun. 17, 2009
Continental flight 1405
Depart 8:50 a.m. from Cleveland, OH (CLE)
Arrives 11:17 a.m. into Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL (TPA)

Yes, it's my first ^ I know it's not much, but it's the thought that counts

Woot! Upgrade to the bestest airport in the world

Marvel at the shiny surfaces, swoon at the fact that things are actually cleaned, revel in the stunning manner the staff acknowledges your existence and actually tries to accommodate your needs. C'est magnifique!

TPA really is in an alternate universe. Even the TSA people are nice.

The day is over, time to head home!

I flew into and out of TPA a lot 1995-1997. Has it been renovated since then? I don't remember the airport experience to be all that great.

I was only to STL twice, but the TSA folks there were very nice. I guess overwhelming bureaucracy couldn't stamp out good ole fashioned mid-western politeness.

I think it was always cat 5 and required 10,000 points.

The outside still looks very, very 1970's. The passenger experience is, IMO, one of the best possible domestically.

Good to hear. The last time I transited STL, the TSA did not exist, but TW still did.

Airsides A and F are older but have had their interiors updated - all the others are 2002 or newer. The main building (landside) was redone in 1997. Right now baggage claim is being redone, but it was just "old" never ugly or falling apart.

TPA doesn't do anything for me one way or another but I have to disagree with the above based on the fact that there is no lounge close to the CO gates. :)
