Need to get some work done today instead of being on AM.

Hartmann Jun 2, 2009 6:55 am

I had no idea that Scotland had this!! I didn't even know they still used their canals.

That will be one of my first stops there, whenever I go.

It's not tipping I believe in; its over-tipping!

That's my philosophy. Gimme that pen again.

I kind of thought I would hear about this for some time to come given your reaction. To everyone's taste their own.

Morning, Box.

Morning, box... still trying to figure out who was calling me from a 732 # when I was trying to turn off my phone's alarm. Guess it was important enough to call me at 630 in the morning, but not imp:rolleyes:rtant enough for a VM

Neither have I.

I can't even remember what the last movie I saw in the theater was. I'm not sure if it's because I'm opposed to paying $12/ticket to see a movie or if it's because I never find myself with a 3 hour block of time, or if nothing really interests me that I can't hold off and watch on my iPod/laptop/TV later.

Aloha Box.

Morning, Box!

Where did the sunshine go? It's raining here in central NJ. Poo!

I guess I break the mold a bit as well. While I do like beer, I definitely consider myself to be a wine guy.

I'm a champagne and martini girl myself .... not in the same glass of course... having said that, I did once have a raspberry champagne martini at McCormick and Schmicks in Bridgewater. It was delicious.

So sorry to hear your news, Photog72. What a bummer. Little stinkers, letting you go. Obviously, they don't deserve your multitude of talents.

Have an idea...not sure it's original... we need to put the official Box 'insignia' on a line of 'special' luggage tags & apparel (think T-Shirts, polo shirts)l for the Boxizens & 'special' guests!

Especially for use at Do's when the Box crowd is getting together, or at a larger Do (& the Box 'team' needs to have their distinctive, yet 'classy' gear).
I am willing to do the research in this!!

again, a possibility for a t-shirt, perhaps?

LOVE the idea of a box luggage tag or t-shirt, etc. Of course, it has to be an "elite" item (hee!hee!hee!) and only Box denizens of standing could be allowed to use them ....:D:p

I noticed the rolleyes and got a laugh out of that, but it totally didn't occur to me that it was on a box. I was more confused as to why the mailbox was at the top of the driveway.

I know that if we end up putting together a golf outing this year, I will be commissioning  golf balls. I think I'll be adding a Flyertalk luggage tag to my arsenal upon the purchase of my new personal laptop or receipt of my work laptop. I think the job is getting me a Dell, so a new bag and a new tag are most certainly in order.

I am all about Penalty Box golf shirts/polos. Maybe a  on the breast and your handle embroidered on the sleeve.

On a completely shift of topic note, do any of the NBA followers think that Stan Van Gundy looks just a little too much like Ron Jeremy? I don't watch basketball, but I have SportsCenter on.

Anybody have any wisdom and experiences to share about Provence? Nice/Cannes/St Tropez/Monte Carlo?

I have a few rather entertaining (at least to me) stories from 10 years ago and my visit to Nice and Monaco. I have no idea where we stayed but it was certainly on the budget side of the spectrum and I'm sure it was fine. Honestly, I don't pay too much mind to the hotels where I stay; I'm not there for the hotel.

First fun story was dinner in Nice. There is a farmers' market in the mornings on the main plaza just inland from the ocean downtown. In the evening that same area is hosed down and then a bunch of tables and chairs set up and the restaurants along the sides of the plaza have al fresco dining. Sure, they are targeting tourists, but it was cheap and all we wanted were some bowls of moules anyways. We ordered the prix fixe menu that included a glass of wine, moules, frites and a dessert. When the waitress came around to get our dessert order I just ordered another bowl of moules as my dessert. She was very confused. Eventually I had my two chocolate mousses (they weren't very good, as I recall) but the scene of trying to explain that I wanted more food rather than dessert still stands out in my mind as an entertaining one.

Second fun thing we did was the ride from Nice to Monaco. We rented mopeds that day and took the coastal road. It was a 45-60 minute ride and it was ridiculously beautiful. Just amazing. We tooled around through Monte Carlo for a few minutes and made our way back up a hill and then looped around to come back into town. It was at this point that we were pulled over by the border patrol. Apparently my decision to take off my shirt and get some sun while riding around was a bad one. By the end of the 15 minutes we spent with the border patrol we were taking photos together and the guy working there was trying to pimp out the woman to me and my buddies.

I realize that neither of these is likely at all useful to you, but why should that stop me from sharing?

The DVD is $5 and worth it for 90 minutes of fun.

I didn't even have an appetite for dinner. I DVRd Conan, but don't have any inclination to watch any tv. Former co-workers on FB have been supportive.

Good night.

Sorry to hear your news. :(

Ya definitely need to go w/the  golf balls! I'm not really a golfer but would gladly join for prospective post-outing festivities, as well as a souvenir sleeve of the  golf balls!

I get all these catalogs for 'personalized' stuff -- so will take a look! As far as one's handle embroidered on the sleeve -- may have to go w/a local vendor here -- will have to look into the cost of that!

Obviously, the  paraphenalia options are endless -- coffee mugs/beer mugs/wine glasses, etc.
Maybe even an 'official' B:rolleyes:X sign just for those hosting B:rolleyes:X DOs to hang outside!:D:rolleyes:

COFreqFlyer Jun 2, 2009 8:04 am

Morning, b:rolleyes:x.

Raining here in northern Wyoming too. Hopefully today will be my last day in this exotic destination city....
