Yeah, they must have made a mistake. The 2 AF flights GIG-CDG leave at 420PM GIG time and 7PM GIG time. The second flight was the one that was scheduled to arrive at 11:15 AM CDG time.

rolov is correct. CNN's timeline reports that they left GIG at 22:30 GMT which would have been 19:30 local time. I was reading conflicting reports on this earlier this morning...

Ahhh, that makes more sense. So contact was lost ~3-4 hours after take-off. Got it.

Idea - are you willing to spend the $500 extra on your wife for other goods / services? e.g. - "with the savings, why don't we schedule a nice weekend trip in (location)"?

She doesn't know about the extra $500 option so I'm not too worried about that one yet. That would basically buy us a shorter layover (down to ~2 hours from 6 in Bergen). I'm going to see if the town of Bergen is feasible in 6 hours, for lunch if nothing else, and do it that way. I think I'm going to pass on the wacky routing, mostly because I don't really like counting places as visited unless I do something. And a 15 minute flagstop doesn't count in my book.

And there will be plenty of other $500 weekend trips later this year, so no need to play it that way.

It was way more fun listening to CO 1E reading it to us on the ride back up to NYC on Sunday morning.

Anyone know if the space shuttle (piggyback) will be flying over Houston on its way back from California? A friend of mine saw it flying back over the PHX area a little bit ago.

They are known to fly over NASA on their way back to Florida. Last ferry flight, they essentially buzzed the complex.

It was fun reading it, but it was a bit difficult to do using a blackberry in a moving car after having had many a drink. I was physically exhausted by the end.

I find your MD80 sticker on your BB offensive.

So do I. It was an outstading piece of oration.
