Warning: AM question

Is it possible to change an aircraft on a route? And if so, where? Or do I have to delete the route and create a new one with the new aircraft?

Delete it. There is a button to recreate it right on that page after it is gone and you can pick the new a/c right there instead of dealing with the annoying city selector.

If you are awaiting new aircraft, make sure you delete the original route and create the replacement route in the same month to avoid paying for marketing costs.

and note that in the AM world a month is 24 days! So do not plan on normal 30/31

And 24 AMdays = 24 RLhours... so I have to do this tomorrow evening. Bleh, not sure I'll have connectivity then, or for how long. Something about dinner with mother and a bunch of her friends....

Yes, there is a piece of math missing somewhere in the logic of their code, but what do you see as the advantage of running more than one r/t a day?

The same logic that allows for airlines to run more than one flight between major city centers. AM doesn't allow for times. A true mastery of this would be to develop banks to allow for connecting traffic.

I can't even figure out how to do one stop flights. I wanted to do a route BNE - AKL - Christchurch (code?) and then back to BNE utilizing the same aircraft. Of course, in the real world you probably can't run domestic flights on a carrier based in another country, but that's a different issue.

I'm sorry, but in the "real" world, a hub out of LHR or FRA would not work as those airports are today. Cause, you know, LH, BA, and Virgin.

Agreed. It is a rather inaccurate simulation of airline worlds - they can't even get distances consistent - but it is the one we have. I'm not really enamored with it but I'm still playing, at least for now. Odds that I'm still playing in October are very slim.

No route authority issues, but there are limitation that essentially prevent the type of flight you are trying to build. There are no milk runs either. You can only do it if you have a hub (or an alliance partner) at each end and stop in the middle. It books as two one-ways. CM can explain it better, but you're a ways off from being able to do it anyways so I'm comfortable giving you the Cliff's Notes version of Is Not Possible.

Poor you -- good thing you got to catch up on a bit of sleep! Guess the devil dog had to take advantage of that!!

I won't be around and hopefully won't be online, so I'll send a preemptive Mazel Tov for the weekend festivities. Have a great time and a great trip!
