ohhhh. My SAN-EWR flight is showing A3 Y3. Since it's the last flight out of SAN, I am not interested unless they give me a hotel and $400. Please start praying to the bump gods....

If you need hotel recommendations or anything if you're stuck here in SAN, let me know.

I actually really enjoyed the time I served on a jury. It was a 2nd Degree Murder case and I found the whole thing rather interesting. I was a salaried employee and didn't have to waste days for the time serving on a jury so I was happy to do it. I also didn't really have a project at work then so I would've been pretty bored anyways.

I truly believe that folks should spend less time trying to avoid jury duty. I'm not saying that you should run to the courthouse every morning to serve, but it is part of the system that mostly works for us so we should do our little part to keep the system running.

Put another way, would you prefer your jury to be folks like you or the folks who don't make up an excuse to avoid it?

over 85% of cases here are drugs. In other cases I may not get disqualified for being honest. My dad did standing grand jury once, that would be nice, scheduled times and knowing exactly when it is.

I don't necessarily care for the drug laws in the USA either, but I'm also mature enough to set aside my prejudice and listen to the facts of a case and work with 11 others to render a verdict. Saying that you cannot or will not do that is pretty poor, IMO.

you don't have to, you just answer the questions and they auto disqualify you. here the DA is very much a drug warrior, he'd be raiding people for smoking if he could. (we'll no literally raiding, but prosecuting those from raids)

If I thought lying and keeping my opinion to myself when asked a direct question would change the laws here I may be willing to be quiet.

Well I'm just going to answer my own question because I like to talk to myself. :)

Apparently you can't go through with home printed tickets. And the CO gate opens at 12:50 pm. Bad for someone who arrived at the airport at 10:45 am. I asked (read: nicely begged) one of the employees sitting there if she would mind printing out a real pass - she asked her supervisor and I was in. Whew.

I was a jury foreman for a domestic battery case back in 1991 (I was only 19). I, too, enjoyed the time I served on a jury. We convicted the man on beating up his s/o. If I were asked to serve on a jury again, I'd do it. I am getting OT this coming May 11, because one of my co-workers is on jury duty.^
