Ah, lunch at a German restaurant today. ^
|
I've not paid much attention to the credit card threads, but in an email I got yesterday from CO they were basically selling silver status with the PClub+ World Mastercard. It wasn't that fake elite access stuff, but this included comp. upgrades as a benefit. I remember FT'ers getting the panties in a bunch when were selling it for PTY folks, I can't imagine that this would be appreciated.

I've casually mentioned such perks as "partner Plat" to the Canuck and her response is generally "I'm a teacher. I don't travel. When I fly with you I sit up front. Why do I need to be elite?"
Mrs Radonc1 is more explicit. "When I fly, I sit up front" :o. Things can't get any clearer than that! |

How is the drive between DCA and downtown Baltimore?
Is it worth a $50 cheaper fare? |

No, it's not worth it. You could take the Metro to Union Station and then take a train, but that process would take 1.5-2 hours.

Thanks for the info! I just know that the descriptions of BWI are  so wanted to make sure I was choosing wisely (no one wants the golden chalice).
If you are going from BWI-downtown Baltimore, you can take the light rail directly from the airport. |

The only time there is "no traffic" in the DC area is between 9:30 pm and 5:00 am on weekdays, and from 9:00 pm to 9:00 am on weekends. If there is no traffic at all, it takes about an hour to get from downtown DC to downtown Baltimore.
and  for not picking up the phone. |

IMO, no.
The drive can take anywhere from an hour to 4. Don't froget DCA is on the VA side of the district.

The conference is all day Saturday and I would probably fly in late Friday (arrive around 10pm) and would leave Sunday morning.

The biggest advantage of BWI is that you can get refundable fares (with the bonus miles and points) for a fraction of what it costs flying into DCA. I make the CLE-Washington trip at least 6 times/yr, and almost always go into BWI. The flights are always $$ cheaper (even with the refundable fare) and the added 1-2 hours to take Amtrak or its little brother down to DC is worth the cost differential and the additional EQMs/EQPs.
