I've recently rediscovered the window seat on 738's for sleeping purposes as I don't get bumped and to stare out the window when seriously bored. The broad shoulder and POS issues is a problem. (not like anyone wants to sit next to me) I was once turned sideways at the window for a few hours because the guy in the middle was a line backer or something.

The LV Hilton has been running some super low prices lately. Internet is only free down in the lobby though. They are next to the convention center and have a real monorail station and if you don't want a car, they are on a bus route that goes to the airport.

BOX investors, CAL B rated debt 3 year maturity (CUSIP 210795PT1) is trading at or around 65 cents on the dollar with a 8.75% coupon, yielding around 30% to maturity. Unless you think CAL is going out of business in the next 3 years this may be a good opportunity to earn a really nice return. FWIW, AMR CCC debt is yeilding 20-25% with a 10+ year maturity.

When I was reading about those staggered Y seats from Thompson Solutions it dawned on me how dumb rows of Y seats are. People are widest at their shoulders and that seat width + armrest is seriously  for those with a large frame.

Holy upgauge batman. From a 73-7 to a 20 F 73-8.
Too bad this is the only flight all week I received an EUA on in advance. In other news there's two guys surfing on top of the jetway at A2. Has anyone seen rolov lately? |

Those are a crap load of fun, they just seem really easy to flip. But then again if you are on vacation and not flipping a sailboat...you're just not having any fun.
The boats at the place we stayed were included so I went out about twice a day. The wind was AMAZING on three of the days we were there. If you knew how to sail you were in for a treat. Otherwise, I imagine it was pretty terrifying. I was actually surprised they let people out. The cleats on the main sheet line of the boats were all completely worn out, so you had to hold the rope the whole time, but that wasn't too bad as it made it a lot less likely you'd flip. I actually managed to flip on one of the really windy days. We flipped over *forward*. Yes -- that's right. The mast is attached to the forward spar between the pontoons. That means that the center of gravity, particularly in a lot of wind, is quite far forward. We were going really fast and then a huge gust of wind hit and pushed the nose of the lee side pontoon a bit lower in the water. That allowed the spar between the two pontoons to touch the top of a wave and the next thing you know we were swimming! It all happened in about a second. I'd never seen, heard, or thought of that as a failure (flipping) mode. I righted the boat pretty quickly. I don't think anyone on shore even saw  ... We were moving again in a minute or two. I did see a few other people flip (amazingly, mostly on the relatively calm days). None of them had any clue how to right the boats, and they all had to wait to be rescued. |
