Wow. Wasn't expecting that. Must have been some heavily unfiltered juice that you were exposed to.

I only know the guy's first name and he wasn't very forthcoming on who he worked for, but he did explain their business and who they work with.

Are any EQMs/RDMs being given for the domestic portion of the StarMegaDo?

I tread lightly on the anti-seafood thing with her. She has solid reasons for disliking some of it, and I respect those. Chief among these would be the time that her mother tried to pass off flounder as chicken, and that the only fish recipe her mother knows is salmon on the grill drenched in teriyaki.

(This is the same grill on which she puts filet mignon...for 30 minutes...then when the filets come in, she says "I hope they were on long enough". I'm not making that up...apparently before teh fiancee met me, she was under the impression that juice coming from a piece of beef meant that no matter what it was underdone to the point of being unsafe.)

I've gotten her to try some stuff, but she's one of those people who has a "texture thing". Scallops make her want to vomit, she'll eat shrimp if they are dressed in something, no crab whatsoever, but loves lobster. Take the good with the bad.

Shortcut to S. Africa by connecting onwards with SAA, but you would still need a visa for transit (). Also, I doubt J-cabin award availability will be good for IAH-LOS.

The visa part stinks but there is also Virgin Nigeria for connections to places like Accra, Banjul, and Douala.

Anyone going to the Red Bull Air Race this weekend in NYC?

I've never seen an air race. My father used to talk about trips with his friends to CLE on the NY Central (Broadway Limited (?)) to watch the air races, in the 1940's or maybe early 50's. Before cell phones or even good long distance, a trip with the boys was really very much a trip with the boys.

An air race over the Hudson would be very cool.

I would have to read In re Plywood Antitrust to see how it fits in with Twombly and Rule 8, but would note that the Fifth Circuit today is a very different entity than it was in 1981.

'Course, jurisdiction for wire is, like, anywhere.

BTW, something else kind of interesting is Columbia's continuing pursuit of compelling public purpose eminent domain in grabbing that chunk-o-Harlem for their new campus. They'll likely get it, even if it takes going all the way up, and it's really going to change the West Side of New York everywhere above the Park.

Still under negotiations but we're hoping the answer is yes. Not likely to be 15K like last year.

Ditto, though we do have at least one of that persuasion in the Box crew.

Press release, June 2: Virgin Nigeria is now Air Nigeria: "airline would reflect the Nigerian culture with integrity show casing that we as a nation can do it." Right.

More from the press release: "He assured the general public that the on-going turnaround would be concluded within a short time never recorded in history. By October 1st 2010, a minimum of ten (10) aircrafts will be in the airline’s fleet. He assured the staff of Air Nigeria that the good days are here. "

For the OneWorld USA / SPG folks (well, many hotel chains) - AA is offering a 35% bonus when one transfers in more than 20,000 miles. I've never done so but it may be the case 20,000 SPG points (or 20,001 to be safe) becomes 33,750.

I respect one's right to not like any food 100%. That doesn't mean I want to spend my entire life living with someone who refuses to eat a large variety of food I really enjoy, and like to cook on a regular basis.

One month ago today we loaded up the moving truck and left Atlanta. Hard to believe a month has gone by already.

I just finished the reorganization of a large portion of our kitchen. Trying to fit the same amount of stuff into about 60% of the cabinet space we had before has been a challenge. Fortunately a new piece of furniture in our dining room helped greatly with that. And, now that a variety of storage racks and other space-saving devices we ordered are mostly here, we're back to a point where we can actually find the food we have without digging.

It helps. But air conditioning is higher on my list of priorities. If I drink too much when it's hot without the AC blasting, I'm even more miserable.

ssullivan Jun 14, 2010 10:44 am

I need more hours in this day to finish organizing my office, the last of the moving-related chores. I really wanted to get it done today but I doubt it's going to happen, thanks to work stuff keeping me from spending time on it.

Canuck stated she hated seafood when we first met. I didn't push it, but when she realized that when I prompted her to try something along with the words "you'll most likely like it" -- she did (and often loved it).

Eventually she had the realization that she really wasn't exposed to that much (in terms of trying foods) growing up and has reached the point where she'll try just about anything, and even certain items multiple times.

She also has realized that making a blanket statement like "I don't eat seafood" is about the most nonsensical thing anyone can say. Sea Bass is about as far from different from muscles, which is different from salmon, which is different than shrimp, etc.
