Wow -- good effort from Lakers!

Powerade, crackers, and an oatmeal cookie from the front desk's cookie tray. Dinner of road warrior champions. At least it's staying down OK.

Sadly this :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:day Inn Express Hotel & Suites has no "pantry." It has two vending machines. One that sells junk food, the other, soft drinks.

I'm feeling a little better now that I've eaten. I was fine earlier, and then this hit on my way back to the hotel from work.

Speaking of food/drinks. What are the plans for Thursday evening/night?

I'll get excited about flying when we have the money for a nice vacation in a premium cabin again, which will be after we're no longer covering housing costs in two cities at the same time.

I'm hoping for good news very soon about a potential renter of our Atlanta condo. That won't cover all the costs associated with it, but it will cover over 60% of it. Watching all but $250 of my net from today's paycheck go toward a condo we're not living in really sucks. :( Granted, half of that payment will be covered by my partner when I remind him tonight to transfer the money to my account. But still, it sucks in ways I never imagined it would.

Being stuck with that place right now really makes me think that the whole home ownership thing is way overrated.

I kinda agree about ownership especially if you dont know for sure you will be staying in the town one lives in. I will clean for flights to ATL!!

Yawn, I need a vacation. All that time in EWR on Saturday dragging luggage around (and loosing car keys) really tells me I need to fly somewhere and escape.

Watch for the mail in the coming days!!

3000 bonus OneWorld USA miles (for each of five stays)

Gore, and Bush admin's first Sol. Gen.) probably sees it as an instance of the fact that whenever a minority's rights are voted upon, they generally lose, and that's one main reason there are courts to serve as a check on those votes. It's not too surprising, then, he's the lead attorney, and also why I won't be too surprised if they win.

If anybody wants to see the framework of the case, through the judge's closing argument questions, look here or here if that doesn't load.

There was a nice article about them in Advocate or Newsweek or maybe both. It was nice to read that even some conservatives see and understand the whole gay marriage thing.

Good afternoon Box. Anyone else hear about PC rates going up (my favorite LAS-based agent was telling me about this today...)

Mentioned a few times. Buy a lifetime and forget about the increases!! A fellow BOXer did bring up a good point about club membership. If you buy the lifetime yourself and your company gives you the price of the yearly, you could have the campany pay off the lifetime in 10 years and then you would have membership after leaving company!!

In other news, I need more photos. I know one will be retaken, plus another in the works. Need to get the IAH folks somehow.

I was thinking that one photo that would be cool would be a classy photo of people all dressed up and getting on a plane like it was the 30s or 40s! If you were overnighting in IAH I would suggest having a photo of people at the Hobby terminal building dressed to the nines!!

Good evening ladies and gents, I have a quick question that would be appropriate here rather than starting a new thread.

I sent an e-mail (used the auto fill form on CO.com) to CO. How long should I wait for a response prior to calling 1-800-WECARE-2?

I received the e-mail acknowledgment and requested to be contacted, but have yet to hear anything.

It's been going on 6 days now.

Thanks!

One thing I always like to remind people is make sure you check the box that you want a reply. You will not automatically get one. The response time is from a few days to a few weeks. Just Depends.

There was a very interesting article in the New Yorker about six months ago regarding this case. It more or less confirms your guess as to Olson's motives. It is also interesting that his co-counsel on this case is David Boies, his opponent in Bush v. Gore.

See above comment!

Mrs. photog72 received her phone back today! And, we didn't have to pay for it. Apparently, since she was in RIC for business, her work covered the Fedex freight.^

Anyone in the 'Box watch NFL Live on ESPN? I do. I had a question I sent through Twitter, and they answered it on air this evening. The show repeats at 12:30AM EDT on ESPN2. My question gets put on the air, very last minute of the show. I already have a couple of Twitter followers whom I don't know.

Seriously, he's there because there are few people that have his combination of constitutional law depth and courtroom chops, and, anyway, it's just a Boies kind of case.

The combination of the two does show, I think, in the same way that libertarians are aligning with progressives on pot legalization, gay marriage is just one of those issues whose time has come.

The article I linked to (which provides the bulk of my knowledge on the subject) suggests Olson wanted Boies on board for political cover as well as skill in litigation.

The standard argument I have heard is that support for gay marriage is much stronger among younger people, so the people passing amendments, etc., à la Proposition 8 are fighting a rear-guard action that will eventually be doomed to failure.

That would be cool but I am having flashbacks to a certain smoking jacket seen wandering the E P Club. Sadly airfare involves too many $'s for me this summer compared to last.

That assumes you stay at the company for 10 years, that the company's policy on buying an annual membership doesn't change for that entire period, and that the company is willing to reimburse an expense as high as the annual membership is without any receipt every year for 10 years.
