Quick question about OP redemption. Is a stopover and an open-jaw permitted? Say I want to go from X to IAH with a stopover at Iah then go iah to Y and return to IAH. I thought this was permitted (given the appropriate availability) but i'm having trouble booking it online....

Stopovers are still not bookable online. And they are not permitted on Series 0 (domestic 25K) rewards.

So sorry this is coming so late! My pick for Bday dinner is Cafe Eccell and make SURE to have the strawberry tart for dessert. It is world famous and my personal favorite dessert in the world -- not just CLL.

Thanks. :) We left before I got your post and wound up at Fish Daddy's but it was great as she is a big seafood nerd. I'll keep Cafe Eccell in mind for next time. ^

Been in Manhattan today with a client.

For all of you who commute daily into the city - my commiserations. What a chore to have to do it every day

Chore? From where you live?

(this from someone thinking of doing this for the next couple of decades,,,,,need to win lottery)

Yes :D

Granted, obviously not a sink, but...why are the urinals out in the open like that? I've never seen that in Europe. Have I missed something?

They put those right on the opposite corner of the pub I hang out at in London, actually (in the summer months only, from what I can tell) :)

I was totally worried about that when I booked my first ever MR, which involved a same-plane-turn (IAH-SJC-IAH). No one noticed though, or at least they didn't comment.

I don't know if it always works out this way, but I've seen days that the infamously early PHL-IAH flight continues on to SAN and then returns from SAN to do the late IAH-PHL. It'd be trippy to do a 4-segment MR day in the same seat on the same airframe.

I had a week or so this year where I had a case of the screwits. It helps my efforts tremendously that I have to essentially do sprints up and down the hotel driveway on busy nights, because I'll move cars within the driveway to keep the traffic flowing. I also don't sit down but for 30 minutes per night and I'll walk loops around the front of the hotel when it's slow.

WOW! Way to go - that's impressive. Well done, sir. One of my friends from grad school has apparently lost over 90 lbs since last summer (I haven't seen her since August, just talked to her) which is a MAJOR life change, esp. at age 39. So if people can do that, I can certainly get with it - no excuses compared to a major achievement like yours or hers. I'd be satisfied to part with 15 (thrilled with 20) by the time that I need to actually go get a wedding dress... :o

Thanks very much. Don't think that it's about exertion and sweat. The biggest changes I made were dietary, and they probably helped the most. I gave up daily soda intake (I'm down to having soda in any form about once every few weeks) and I switched to skim milk (eliminated 2% for breakfast uses and eliminated half and half from coffee). I also got away from my mother's very rich style of cooking.

The sad part is that this is the second time I'm doing this. I was at one point 100 pounds lighter than I am now. I'm aiming to maintain about 60 lower than I am now.

Ahead of schedule? Who does that? :p (Also, I'd never heard of Redstone Grill - just checked out their website - looks tasty!)

We've never had a bad meal there. I could see having a facet of the Copa Got Married Do there, as there are a couple of SPG nearby and some decent golf.

It's going to be hard going from insanely busy working on important projects to a few months of tying up loose ends.:(

Sorry to hear that things are winding down on your career there!:(

I'm the opposite. I don't think either of my parents (or both my sisters, for that fact) have ever been nailed for anything except speeding, whereas I have only other things.

Normal? Not sure... but you are apparently an exact clone of my mother. If/when I ever have children I am quite frightened, as I have quite a legacy to live up to. The way she tells it, decent people basically just "grit their teeth and get it done." Also, she was entirely too pleased to share with me (a couple years ago) the fact that when she was 9 months pregnant with me, she still weighed less than I did. No, I have clearly never forgotten that comment.

I lied, my apologies. I did get pulled over recently for a posted no right on red, and the punk kid was running radar but felt like he could nail me for whatever he pleased.

I did once get pulled over in theory for speeding, and I had no documents on me thanks to my wallet having been stolen. That stop ended with a ticket for possession of a license plate cover. Apparently those are illegal in NJ.

I might have to do the bus option and I can't read on buses, especialy the MCI buses that Suburban and Academy uses.

True, but I was not coming down the Turnpike (278 to 202 to 611 to PA Turnpike). At least the rain held off until I got to 611.
