Apparently it was a false alarm. The name was similar to the name on the no-fly list.

The call back earlier in the week was taxiing to the runway as well.

Maybe the final manifest gets run against the data base when the door closes, and anyone missed gets flagged at that time. Still doesn't mitigate the fact that there were fails at check-in.

A family member by marriage has olive farms and a beach home in north Africa, and a name identical to someone who had been on the European watch list. Even after the namesake was apprehended, it was still so bad that their only choice was to go Royal Air Moroc, rather than AF or any other way connecting in France or Spain.

Correct. The audio was something to the effect of:

Tower: EK202, you are cleared for...correction, EK202, make first available left and return to gate immediately. We don't know why.

They were less than a minute from take-off.

As for who is responsible, the TSA isn't checking the BPs against any list at the checkpoints. We all know that. The key is to never issue the BP in the first place, or to flag it at the counter. That responsibility is somewhat shared.

I wasn't assuming that I got screwed. I just called and it's for certain Intl. fares only. While it's undeniably true that I have no faith whatsoever in society at large, I did not go in believing that I had been charged incorrectly...I just wanted to find out the details.

If you didn't think you were mischarged then why would it "irk" you that the policy changed for the better of the customer?

I understand that, I know it is shared, I just like taking potshots at the TSA even if it is not 100% accurate :D And it is the box, so didn't mind it.

When it comes to food on CO, I keep my expectations low (regardless of being in Y, domestic F or BusinessFirst) and I'm rarely disappointed. Most times, the food isn't bad but I can't say I've ever had a meal that I'd label as good.

Pretty much me too. I always think to myself that CO does it fairly well for the market segment.

And since he's not fan-friendly to begin with, it will be hilarious to have a sign in his yard advertising his residence.

I didn't assume that I was mischarged. The thread title before edit was misleading. If new money had been dropped as a rule, it is entirely possible that some agents didn't get the memo. I sought and found clarification. The lack of clarity was irksome.
