It's going to be a fun ride, heh. I hope that everyone, especially sfogate, gets to keep their jobs.

Continental's logo and livery to remain post-merger with the United name. Here's the official CO/UA merger site:

I think it's fair to say that it looks like CO is mostly in the drivers seat with this merger (and not just the CEO it seems). Reminds me when SBC bought AT&T but used the AT&T brand name for the combined company despite SBC being in the drivers seat. :-:

+1.

Morning, Box.

Also, I think it's pretty  that my signature made it into sbm12's blog. :D

I was hoping that they'd at least keep the United font. Serif is so 1980. :p

Dude. My wife gave me  this morning because I commented on that very issue. Sans-serif fonts are the mainstay of branding and advertising because they are easier to read. And yes, we're nerds. :)

That right there says it's not going to be an acquisition like the DL/NW "merger". So there is hope. ;)

What can I say, great  think alike.

The CO font just comes off as something you'd see on a thesis.

I agree. I like the globe on the tail, but seeing United rendered in a serif font (and as "United" vs. "UNITED") just looks weird.

I think the font worked for the 'Continental Airlines' livery, it doesn't work for 'United' or 'UNITED' at all.\\I was wondering if they want to keep the same font, it needs to be longer, what about 'United Flying Co' :D

I just dropped the brick on a couple of folks who're leaving UA over the new logo.

Good luck CO employees, my employeer was bought out a few years ago and know what it's like. :-:

Mine was also; but what  we have experienced has to do with the new management not understanding how our portion of the business differs from theirs, and in theory this shouldn't be a problem with this merger. On the bright side, I have met many new colleagues whom I enjoy working with.

Best of luck to all CO and UA employees.

At least they are not using Zapf Dingbats.

One non- in the UA forum brought up a good point - if Copa doesn't stay allied with CO/UA, we could have the same tails flying for a competing alliance.
