That redefines "reach out and touch someone". Wow. I'm guessing the USMC? Probably a .50cal lofted like a sand wedge.

At least it's a point of military pride taken away from teh Canadians. They had the record for a while.

Wow - a little over 1.5 miles! Was it a practice shot or in real combat?

well the interesting thing out of all of this is the fact that CLE might actually get some scheduled widebody service. Looks like the analysts agree with me - we will see less flights to smaller cities but more mainline and perhaps international flights as a reliever to the megahubs. Time will tell, but I am cautiously optimistic about CLE - FRA and perhaps more once a new FIS facility is complete at Terminal C.

Morning Box,

One thing I'm looking forward to in the merger is a wider variety of plane types available to serve smaller cities. Right now if CO doesn't want to go mainline, they have 3 plane types to choose from. Here in PIT, for instance, the E-145s are too small for the market to EWR, and the Boeings are too big, meaning we get all Q-400, all the time. UAs E-170 aircraft are extremely comfortable and would be a perfect fit for this and many other markets. Maybe even a 319.

So, after three trips to Lowe's, I got the frame for the workbench built. I ran out of energy to cut the plywood to make the top and the middle cabinet surfaces, so I'll save that for later in the week. It did not help that highs topped out near 90 today.

plywood or MDF?

If you are talking about this Wednesday. You will have plenty of room to stretch out and take a nice nap.

My completely uninformed speculation as to new route possibilities:

From IAH (United's Largest Hub ):
Likely:
SCL
MAD
MUC
Possibly:
HKG
PEK
PVG
OGG
KOA

From ORD:
Possibly:
PTY (also wondering whether UA/CO will  at CM for IAD-PTY)

From SFO/LAX:
GUM

From EWR/IAD:
Likely:
WAW
BUD
IST
PRG
HEL
DME (from EWR)
GIG (nonstop from EWR)
EZE (nonstop from EWR)
Possibly:
LOS
LYS
KBP
ALA (Oil Route)

I think the management team may just go DL for a while, throwing extra widebodies at routes and seeing what sticks. It will be an interesting change from the past few years, where widebody shortages were the norm.
