I was also thinking about a system where people could report their results, but I think that is probably far less useful.

There is a usefulness to knowing what status on what fare tends to clear what route, but if relying on self-reporting is the alternative to :rolleyes:ing where we're eating at CO, IMHO neither is acceptable.

Good morning box. Why does the USFG have such a complicated application process?

I can't believe that the combination of paid F and 1Ks or higher flying Tuesday PHL-ORD is greater than 20, but apparently it is. On the other hand, E+ is wide open on my flight today.

IIRC the afternoon flight to ORD that Pandy put me on for the Star Do went out with empties in F, but granted that was under the old system.

Because it's the USFG. It is still burned into my head how long my security clearance form for the Air Force was. 29 pages. And that was just for Secret. I shudder to think how large the paper load would have been if I was going for TS or TS/SCI.

How is the UDU system working out?

Re: Flybys.

The most harrowing flyby that I ever witnessed on video was a B-52 clearing a ridge at 30 feet, and then later at 3 feet. A still photographer, IIRC, was taking pictures of the plane for some reason and had to run out of the way when it was coming at him.

The pilot was a bad hot dogger and other co-pilots refused to fly with him again. I think the next time he flew was in an air show where he crashed the plane.

Details, but no video. I searched for a while and only found this (WVM) that shows the 30 foot pass, but freeze at the 3 foot pass (it leads with the crash, though, so it's ~30 seconds in).

There is an extensive Wiki piece on that accident, and it is very well-written.

Then by your logic you wouldn't mind flying NK once a year. :D

Here's the skinny. While I'm sure icuhere2 is a nice guy, if he honestly perceived the value of the M+S coupon to be $20 then he would have either used it or accounted for it as a higher value. But, he didn't. Because the real value is negligible. To his credit, he did also tip cash so he's not on my  list.

Irony of all ironies, I was just fishing for something in my satchel and came across a couple M+S $20 coupons that I apparently picked-up at the DCA P(oop) Club during one of my recent visits and had completely forgot they were there. So, for me, (and I'm sure most people) the real value of a M+S gift cert is about .01.

I used a bunch of those certs this year, as I actually like M+S but find it a bit overpriced for what it is without the coupon, but in no way did I place an actual value of $20 on them when giving them away to friends, etc.

I must have missed the post where he discussed tipping someone with an M+S coupon, but I sure hope he left at least a 15% cash tip along with the coupon.

I only tip in foreign currency, usually reais.

I have brought my usual reasoned prose to the CO/UA merger thread.

Another incident today, this one on CX.

I'll keep my mouth shut on why there are two things wrong with this. ;)
