I simply ABP'ed the object. Respectfully, there are some of us who would respond to "who cares?" with "what's next?".

Does it matter "what's next" if you can turn it off?

Of course not. I think I'm screwed for tomorrow night because I made the reservation after the cancellation time passed. Still worth trying to get out of it.

The agent did just offer me $25 off that I'd apply to a future airfare but I'm still going to try for the cancellation instead. If that doesn't work I'll ask for the $25 back.

Cool, thanks. I missed that that option was put in there.

If there's a decision to add all social networking sites, yes. And a "basic underlying assumption" (I'm writing an article about Schein's model at the moment) is that anything in the future could be turned off ...

I avoid this by not joining Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, etc. Social Networking sites are stoopid. ;)

It is still in testing and hasn't been publicized too much yet. ;)

As an acknowledgment to my sector, I do have a LinkedIn page. You know my feelings about the rest of those ...

Or what? You're going to take your ball and go home?

You've got access to the site for free and you're blocking the ads so you aren't contributing to the revenue stream. If they decide to try to add more users and integrate a bit more with other services to make it more convenient for their users and make a little more money you're really going to pitch a fit? It can be turned off. In this case both through ABP or through the option they're making available. And if it couldn't you'd have the wonderful decision of leaving. After all, for what you pay for the service...

What's the value proposition for a paid membership at the moment aside from no ads (unless in the future there might be "partners" generating revenue instead of "ads") and the ability to have more private messages stored? Doesn't Pandy's sense of community among the FT affinity program forums serve many of the same purposes as InsideFlyer at the moment (just in the Box alone)?

Don't tell anyone, but I think we may be on a social networking site right now. :D

Well, the closest thing to a "paid membership" on FT is the InsideFlyer subscription that turns off the ads. Interestingly enough, that revenue goes to House of Miles, not to IB.
