I looked in the UA forum and did not see anything about it.

ETA: It happened Saturday, I wonder if the PTY crew is to blame.

Was on the local news last night. With such a close call I can't understand why the hush hush for so long.

the couple next to me here clearly having an affair, and talking about it and what if his wife finds out about this openly.....weird

Probably because no one other than the UA pilots, C172 pilot, and the ATC folks knew it happened.

And possibly a few lucky nerds who had KSFO up on LiveATC.

Heh, indeed. My wife constantly laughs at me because I track all her flights via flightaware and LiveATC when she flies without me.

Does anyone know why a chart copied from MS Excel to MS Word might lose the bottom border? No matter what I do, one of eight charts will not show that border

Another question - anyone know an application where I can dump in a list of words and highlight everywhere those words appear in a document?

Open the text file in Firefox. Press CTRL+F. Search for terms. Select highlight all.

Have no fear.

Before long you'll learn to block it out.

I'm kicking myself for not applying. I would have easily qualified!

Don't feel too bad, I was an idiot and forgot to send in my credentials so all i got was 1,000 points.

Saw it before I went to lunch - assumed there would be a discussion in UA-world or Newsstand.

Speaking of UA, finally off the phone call.

I saw it a few days ago and wish they would publish more of the ATC discussion, specifically what instructions were given to the 777 for climbout. How soon did ATC expect the 777 to hit 5,000 or 10,000 feet?

From the way it sounds now, the private plane was following the 101 south at 1,500 feet when the 777 took off. That would mean the 777 was in a very steep climb to reach the private aircraft that quickly.

That was my thinking as well. It will be interesting to see if the NTSB releases a report.
