I'm considering a Hockey Do II. I want to do something next season for either my 30th birthday, my wedding, or just a general pointless expression of merriment.

Why? NJT trains aren't that bad, especially on the NE Corridor.

The trains aren't bad, no. It all depends if he has time for Penn Station pizza and at which station he would choose to alight.

Fixed it for ya.

You are not wrong. There is, after all, a solid business case for the t-shirt sold at the Shore that reads: "New Jersey: Where the weak are killed and eaten."

I think we should give the island of Manhattan back to England on the condition that they take the entire state of New Jersey as well.

Get to NY Penn Station via bus and subway (or cab) and it's a straight shot on NJ Transit. Driving will also be a reasonably direct shot. I wouldn't worry much about either approach...

Given these thoughts from those who actually live there, I will opt for the car. In addition to the flexibility, I figure if I steer clear of attempting to drive in Manhattan itself, I should be all good.

I am assuming that the $37 in tolls I will need to pay to get across the GWB and onto the turnpike are payable in cash via toll booths that I imagine are staffed by some of the nicest and most helpful people in the country?

I would like to see/do Manhattan for a bit just for those things, but I would like to avoid driving down there (which I can do if going to Olton Hall's house). Maybe monitor and Fran will have some pity on my soul and show me around or something after the soccer game.

If you have an athletic competition on the radio, expect to hear about it.

Talked to the better half and decided to refund the LIM tickets (don't worry I rebooked a 1-day turn as a MR). She had been set on Europe and while I think she likes the idea of LIN, she really wants to see Machu Picchu, but after a few phone calls I learned that getting there is still pretty hard.

PeruRail's website is on the fritz and their reservations folks say they are all booked up. Just a note, while June is the wet season in LIM, it's apparently very dry in the highlands, so lots of tourists.

Ahh well, I guess we'll just have to do Peru, Chile, and Argentina in one massive backpacking trip.

Now I have 24 hours in LIM. What to do, what to do.

NJ is not that bad.

^ I now have an official CO person that I am to contact for all things needing approval for our Calendar Project.

So unless I hear otherwise our first photo shoot on/around June 12, as planned around the Footie/Soccer World Cup TV DO.

To be fair about it, sdm1130 makes a salient point and is factually correct. The difference between he and I, however, is where we live. He lives up north, by EWR. This area of the state is known as "New Jersey". I live down south, by Philadelphia...in the area known as "Who cares? It's by Philly." The transit situations are entirely different.

Driving in Manhattan is something that every visitor has to do once. I still do it whenever I feasibly can just to remind myself how fragile and precious human life can be.

Tolls are payable in cash, human organs, or ammunition. I've heard a rumor that the NJ Highway Authority may start accepting slices of pork roll as currency in light of the state budget deficit.

my family lives in BH - wish I could help some boxers. :) I won't be in NYC due to MDA failures.

Why would you devalue Manhattan like that?

Haha, good times. I got a car through Avis for $104 for the weekend; not too bad. I'm going to go back through and search for the AWD that sbm12 has (he posted it here a long time ago) and see if I can do any better.
