One interesting tidbit - with the Dell 802.11n upgrade, my router sees the Mini better than my Macbook when they're both in the same place.

That is likely due to the aluminum chassis of the MacBook. Apple has always struggled with WiFi reception on their aluminum notebooks.

Yes, I was living in Hoboken, NJ at that time -- I remember it very clearly, as I knew it was a quake when it hit! (No doubt due to my previous experiences in CA!)

I remember it too. The springs in the windows were vibrating like crazy.

I look once a day, if that. The only time I see the prices more than once in a day is if I'm reading related articles, as I do most of my reading on Yahoo Finance and they have a scroll at the top of the screen.

Not surprising. You'd think they'd be able to work around that somehow. I do like the fact that the unibody is so solid, and the 17" MBP is basically the same weight as my wife's 15" Dell.

Hey there
Delilah.

(I can haz most random reference of the day?)

Is that the Delilah the song was written about? There was an article in the Chicago Trib about her a few years ago, since the song's inspiration was a girl from the Chicago 'burbs.

They've improved it quite a bit over the years. I had an aluminum PowerBook a while back that was awful with WiFi signals. My unibody MB is significantly better to the point where I don't notice the issue anymore.

I agree, the unibody construction is very solid and lightweight. ^

I am pretty sure they already have it resolved, I have HP metal/alloy laptops with great wifi.

Hmmmm, need to get my other half to SFO to meet me while I'm there for a work conference next month. Options are:
  1. Buy the ticket for nearly $500. He could get on the same IAH-SFO flight as me on the trip out.
  2. Buy the ticket for nearly the same price on another airline and try to get there around the same time.
  3. Burn 50,000 OnePass miles for the preferred flights on CO. That would be an EasyPass Y award.
  4. Burn 50,000 OnePass miles for a standard F award on US. He'd have to leave work earlier that day and get there about 30 minutes before I do.
  5. Burn 100,000 OnePass miles for an EasyPass F award on CO.
  6. Stay home and I go to SFO the weekend before my conference starts without him (not really an option).
WWTBD? I'm tempted to go for option 4. Least hit on my wallet, and while it's the same number of miles as option 3, he'd be in US F versus CO Y.

I could also possibly use UA miles for this as well.

Option 4 wins. I don't like US as much as the next guy, but F for free (kinda) isn't a bad thing.

Given that there really isn't a choice whether to go, or not  -- I say go for option 4!^
